The causality between circulating proteins and thyroid cancer (TC) remains unclear. We employed five large-scale circulating proteomic genome-wide association studies (GWASs) with up to 100,000 participants and a TC meta-GWAS (n = 3,418, n = 292,703) to conduct proteome-wide Mendelian randomization (MR) and Bayesian colocalization analysis. Protein and gene expressions were validated in thyroid tissue.

Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) is a complex syndrome characterized by multi-organ involvement that has emerged in the context of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) outbreak. The clinical presentation of MIS-C is similar to Kawasaki disease but predominantly presents with fever and gastrointestinal symptoms, and severe cases can involve toxic shock and cardiac dysfunction. Epidemiological findings indicate that the majority of MIS-C patients test positive for SARS-CoV-2 antibodies.

A Cu(OTf)-catalyzed glycosylation protocol using glycosyl --phthalimidoylpropynyl benzoates (NPPBs) as donors was disclosed, which features an inexpensive copper catalyst, operationally convenient conditions, high to excellent yields, and a broad substrate scope. Mechanistic studies indicated an isochromen-4-yl copper(II) intermediate arising from the departure of the leaving group.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most lethal cancers worldwide, which is associated with a variety of risk factors. Cancer stem cells are self-renewal cells, which can promote the occurrence and metastasis of tumors and enhance the drug resistance of tumor treatment. This study aimed to develop a stemness score model to assess the prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients for the optimization of treatment.

Background: Dysregulation of miR-486-3p was related to the growth and development of a variety of cancers, but the specific function of miR-486-3p in cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) is not to be confirmed yet.

Objective: Our present study aimed to validate the potential molecular mechanisms of miR-486-3p in cSCC and the potential of miR-486-3p as a novel target for future treatment.

Methods: Human cSCC samples and normal skin tissues were applied to determine the expression level of miR-486-3p and FLOT2 by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and quantitative reverse transcription PCR (qRT-PCR), respectively.

Article Synopsis
  • Kawasaki disease is the leading cause of acquired heart disease in children, leading to serious cardiovascular issues like coronary artery lesions and giant aneurysms, affecting their overall health.
  • In July 2020, the Japanese Circulatory Society and the Japanese Society of Cardiac Surgery released a guideline to guide the diagnosis and management of Kawasaki disease's cardiovascular effects.
  • The article discusses how to evaluate the severity of Kawasaki disease and outlines approaches for its diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management based on the established guidelines.

Background & Objective: The molecular etiology of nasopharyngeal carcinoma is currently unknown. It was reported that DeltaNp63 is dominant-negative toward transactivation of p53, and associated with the malignant hyperplasia and dedifferentiation of the squamous cells. This study was designed to investigate the expression and significance of DeltaNp63 protein in NPC tissues.
