A bacterial consortium immobilized in magnetic floating biochar gel beads is proposed to remove high-molecular-weight polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. The microbial consortium performed better than single strains and consisted of four strains of marine bacteria for degrading pyrene (PYR), two strains for benzo(a)pyrene (BAP), and three strains for indeno(1,2,3-cd)pyrene (INP), which were isolated from oil-contaminated seawater. The immobilized cells could biodegrade 89.

To explore a new method for bio-regeneration of high-protein brewery spent diatomite, an ammonifying bacteria (BSD1) was screened out from it and identified as Lysinibacillus fusiformis. The protein degradation characteristics of BSD1 was studied with rice protein as the sole nitrogen source. Maximum protein degradation activity was obtained when BSD1 was inoculated with an inoculum of 5% into a medium with glucose as carbon source and initial pH value of 7.

EP-biochar was produced from Enteromorpha prolifera (EP) at temperatures of 200-600°C under limited-oxygen conditions and then activated using HCl and HF. To optimize the sorption of pyrene (PYR) and benzo[a]pyrene (BaP), the effect of the pyrolysis temperature was studied, and the results showed that EP-biochar produced at 500°C gave the highest removal efficiency. The physiochemical properties of EP-biochar pyrolyzed at 500°C were characterized.

To remove benzo[a]pyrene (BaP) that has accumulated in the Jiaozhou Bay wetland sediment, two strains (JB1 and JB2) were selected from the BaP-contaminated the wetland sediment and immobilized in coal cinder and chitosan beads using entrapping and surface adsorption methods. Biodegradation of BaP in sediment was carried out in pots. The results showed that, supported by the coal cinder and chitosan beads, 71.

Changes in root exudates, including low molecular weight organic acids (LMWOAs), amino acids and sugars, in rhizosphere soils during the gel-beads/reeds combination remediation for high molecular weight polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (HMW-PAHs) and the degree of the effects on HMW-PAH biodegradation were evaluated in this study. The results showed that the gel-beads/reeds combination remediation notably increased the removal rates of pyrene, benzo(a)pyrene and indeno(1,2,3-cd)pyrene (65.0-68.

In this paper, the modified coal cinders and zeolite powders in proportion of 2:1 were mixed with modified polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) with a ratio of 20:1 (w/v) to make a new sorbent and biological carrier-the coal cinder-zeolite balls (CCZBs). The maximum absorption capacities of ammonia nitrogen and Chemical Oxygen Demand (CODCr) on CCZBs, adsorption process were evaluated in batch experiments. And then they were combined with reed wetland for bioremediation of micro-polluted aquaculture water in estuarine wetlands.

Pseudomonas putida PYR1 and Acinetobacter baumannii INP1 isolated from Liaohe estuarine wetlands were entrapped in cinder beads to make cinder gel-beads. They were combined with reeds for bioremediation of pyrene- and indeno(1,2,3-cd)pyrene-contaminated estuarine wetlands. The results showed that the removal percentages of pyrene and indeno(1,2,3-cd)pyrene (69.
