Objective: To clarify the mechanism of heat shock protein 27 (HSP27) as a diagnostic biomarker in coronary heart disease (CHD) and atherosclerosis (AS).

Method: Expressions of HSP27 in patients with CHD and healthy controls were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and the expressions of HSP27 in aortas of patients with CHD and healthy controls were measured by immunohistochemistry. Receiver operating characteristic curve was applied to assess the diagnostic performance of HSP27 in CHD.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to evaluate how the glycoprotein receptor blocker tirofiban affects patients with acute anterior myocardial infarction who do not show ST segment resolution after undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
  • - A total of 157 patients were assigned to either receive tirofiban or a saline control; results showed that those treated with tirofiban had significantly lower rates of major adverse cardiac events (MACE) and better left ventricular ejection fractions (LVEF) at both 30 and 180 days post-discharge.
  • - The findings concluded that tirofiban is safe to use in this patient population and can lead to improved clinical outcomes without increasing the risk of bleeding complications.
