Article Synopsis
  • Interleukin 8 (IL-8) plays a key role in the immune response by helping neutrophils target and eliminate pathogens; this study focuses on how genetic mutations influence resistance to coccidiosis in chickens.
  • Researchers analyzed 180 Jinghai yellow chickens for single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the gene promoter, linking these SNPs to various resistance indicators like superoxide dismutase and interleukins.
  • Three specific SNPs (T-550C, G-398T, T-360C) showed significant associations with immune response measures, indicating that changes in the promoter region impact IL-8 levels and coccidiosis resistance, but further research is needed to clarify the

Based on the established resource populations of Sutai pig, the expression of BPI gene was assayed by Real-time PCR to detect the tissue expression and analyze the differential expression between Escherichia coli F18-resistant and sensitive piglets. This study aimed at providing a theoretical foundation for further research on the role BPI gene in host immunity and resistance to E. coli F18.
