C-MYC is a proto-oncoprotein whose dysregulation triggers tumorigenesis and tumor progression in ≈70% of cancer cases. It is presently demonstrated that aberrantly upregulated MYC is caused by the overexpressed and "extra-nucleolar" PDCD11 in p53-mutant breast and colon cancer cells, which is highly correlated to tumor progression, metastasis, and recurrence. In the nucleoplasm, PDCD11 binds to the TAD of C-MYC to prevent SKP2, a transcriptional target of C-MYC as well as one of the major E3 ligase components targeting C-MYC, from interacting with and ubiquitinating C-MYC in feedback.

Microdroplet technology is widely used in biomedicine, material synthesis, and the petrochemical industry due to its unique biological and mechanical properties. Silica glass has emerged as a key substrate for droplet microfluidic chips because of its excellent physical, chemical, and biocompatible characteristics. However, its intrinsic hardness and brittleness create significant challenges in fabrication.

Radiotherapy is the primary treatment for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC); nonetheless, radioresistance remains the leading cause of localized recurrence. Our study demonstrates a significant increase in the N6-methyladenosine (m6A) methylase METTL3 in NPC and other tumors. Mechanistically, METTL3 acts as an m6A methylase, enhancing the m6A modification of the solute carrier family 7 member 11 (SLC7A11) transcript, which increases its stability and expression, thereby inhibiting radiation-induced ferroptosis and ultimately inducing radioresistance in NPC.

Fish oil (FO) is being progressively replaced by palm oil (PO), which is rich in palmitic acid (PA). However, our understanding of the effects of PA on fish and the underlying molecular mechanisms remains limited. Heat shock transcription factor 1 (HSF1) is a critical transcription factor involved in stress response, but whether it responds to the effects of PA in fish remains unknown.

Biliary epithelial cell (BEC)-derived liver regeneration in zebrafish exhibits similarities to liver regeneration in chronic liver injury. However, the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. Here, we identified a serine peptidase called prolyl endopeptidase (Prep) as an indispensable factor during the BEC-derived liver regeneration process.

Bivalves are a good source of lipid such as fatty acids and phospholipids, but little is known about how dietary fatty acids affect the fatty acid and phospholipid profiles of bivalves. In this study, the effects of dietary fatty acids on growth, oxidation status, fatty acid and phospholipid profiles of razor clams were investigated by employing microencapsulated feeds containing different oils (fish oil, FO; soybean oil, SO; flaxseed oil, FLO; coconut oil, CO; arachidonic acid-enriched oil, AO; olive oil, OO; and palm oil, PO). The results showed that the final weight of the razor clams fed FO enriched with eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA, C22:5n-3) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, C22:6n-3) was significantly higher than that of all other treatment groups.

In single-cell transcriptomics research, accurately predicting cell lineage allocation and identifying differences between lineages are crucial for understanding cell differentiation processes and reducing early pregnancy miscarriages in humans. This paper introduces an explainable PCA-based deep learning attention autoencoder model, X-scPAE (eXplained Single Cell PCA - Attention Auto Encoder), which is built on the Counterfactual Gradient Attribution (CGA) algorithm. The model is designed to predict lineage allocation in human and mouse single-cell transcriptomic data, while identifying and interpreting gene expression differences across lineages to extract key genes.

Background: To evaluate the clinical diagnostic value of third-generation dual-source CT for pulmonary embolism, focusing on the optimization of dual-source CT scanning with dynamic reconstruction in acute pulmonary embolism (PE) and various imaging manifestations.

Methods: Eighty-two patients with pulmonary embolism were enrolled and randomly divided into standard CT angiography (SCTA) and dynamic CT angiography (DCTA). DCTA patients were divided into dynamic CT angiography arterial phase (DCTAa), time phase Angiography reconstruction (TMIP-CTA), and 4D noise reduction TMIP-CTA according to the image reconstruction.

Resistance to cisplatin-based chemotherapy limits the clinical benefit to some bladder cancer patients, and understanding the epigenetic regulation mechanism of cisplatin (CDDP) resistance in bladder cancer from the perspective of N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification may optimize CDDP-based treatments. The study identified SRD5A3 as an oncogene for bladder cancer and stabilized by a m6A reader, IGF2BP3, to sustain CDDP resistance. Our results revealed that the expression of SRD5A3 was elevated in human bladder cancer tissues and cell lines, and this elevation was more evident in CDDP-resistant T24 and 5637 cells.

Carbon-based all-inorganic perovskite solar cells (C-PSCs) are promising alternatives compared with conventional organic-inorganic halide PSCs because of their good thermal stability. However, low carrier transport efficiency and energy level mismatch of the upper interface of the device limit the further improvement of power conversion efficiency (PCE), and all-inorganic perovskites are extremely sensitive to oxygen and humidity, which seriously damages the long-term stability of the device. Upper interface modification is an effective solution to improve the PCE and the stability of devices.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the effectiveness of concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) compared to intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) for treating stage II nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), focusing on T2N1 subtype patients.
  • A total of 218 patients were analyzed, showing no significant differences in long-term survival rates between the IMRT and CCRT groups, although certain factors like EBV DNA levels and lymph node necrosis influenced prognosis.
  • Results suggest that while both treatment methods are similar in effectiveness overall, CCRT has a higher rate of acute side effects, particularly in patients with lymph node necrosis.

Background: Observational studies suggested a bidirectional relationship between severe autoimmune type 2 diabetes and focal epilepsy. However, it remains debated whether and in which direction a causal association exists. This genetics-based study aimed to explore the relationships of severe autoimmune type 2 diabetes (T2DM) and focal epilepsy outcomes with two sample Mendelian randomization (TSMR) method.

Dietary docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is crucial for the optimal (Opt) growth of bivalves, but the precise dietary DHA requirement remains undetermined in bivalves. Our study identifies the optimal dietary DHA requirement for razor clam and demonstrates its effects on fatty acid profiles and gene expression related to inflammation and detoxification. Microencapsulated feeds with different DHA levels (DHA1-6 groups: 1.
