Purpose: To explore how regional economic levels moderate the relationships between cancer-related financial toxicity (FT) and its associated risk factors.
Methods: A secondary analysis was conducted using data from a cross-sectional survey of 1208 adult patients with cancer, conducted in six tertiary and six secondary hospitals across three Chinese provinces from February to October 2022. The interactions between the regional economic level-categorised as high- or low-/middle-income based on the gross domestic product per capita- and 13 previously identified risk factors for FT were examined via moderation analysis using the PROCESS macro for SPSS software.
Aim: To investigate the associations between nurse staffing levels, nurse educational level, and nurse-sensitive patient outcomes among patients in medical and surgical wards.
Background: Patient outcomes are affected by a variety of factors, including nurse staffing and registered nurse (RN) educational levels. An examination of the associations between these factors and patient outcomes will help identify the impact that nurses make on patient care, including health and safety.
Background: Young working women who devote most of their time to jobs and household chores may experience conflicts when faced with a cervical cancer screening decision. This study aimed to assess the acceptability and feasibility of a Web-based decision aid on cervical cancer screening by young working women, and to preliminarily examine the effects of the decision aid on the knowledge level, risk perception, decisional conflicts, screening decision and screening uptake.
Method: This was a pilot randomised controlled trial.
Purpose: To develop and pilot-test a novel training programme for nurses in acute care settings to improve their decision-making support skills, knowledge, attitudes, and confidence in conducting advance care planning (ACP).
Methods: A single-group repeated measures design was employed. This study was conducted in two phases.
Background: Virtual reality (VR) gaming is a promising technology that can be applied in stroke rehabilitation to increase survivors' social engagement, though its optimal usage and effects on stroke recovery are not fully understood. This qualitative study aimed to investigate stroke survivors' and caregivers' perspectives of VR-based gaming rehabilitation modules for supporting post-stroke recovery and social participation.
Methods: Twenty-eight participants (18 stroke survivors and 10 caregivers) were recruited through purposive sampling from acute hospitals in Hong Kong.
Background: Factors influencing health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and financial toxicity (FT) have been found to overlap, and the robust correlation between HRQoL and FT raises the possibility that FT mediates the relationships between the shared risk factors and HRQoL. However, empirical evidence supporting this hypothesis is limited.
Objective: This study aimed to explore whether FT mediates the relationships between HRQoL and its risk factors.
Background: Unstructured play has also been found effective on promoting positive emotions and emotional competence among children and adolescents with special educational needs (SEN). Unstructured Outdoor Play coupled with Mindfulness-based Interventions via 'Supporting Wellness in E-Child Learning Environments' (SWELE) program can foster the mental health and wellbeing of children and adolescents with SEN. Currently there is a lack of the unstructured play with mindfulness-based interventions in the special schools in Hong Kong.

Methods: This is a randomized controlled trial that included 150 women newly diagnosed with gynecological cancer from three public hospitals in Hong Kong. Participants were randomly assigned to the intervention group (n = 78) to receive the SEXHAB or to an attention control group (n = 72) to receive attention.
Aims: The relationship between retinal electrophysiological function and myopia progression was evaluated in school-aged children wearing Breath-O-Correct Orthokeratology (OK) lenses compared with those wearing single vision (SV) lenses over 24 months.
Methods: In this randomised, single-blind, parallel controlled trial, children aged 8-12 years with -1.00 to -4.
Background: Living with stroke poses many psychosocial challenges. Interventions for improving stroke survivors' psychosocial outcomes are lacking. Peer support interventions may contribute to recovery after stroke.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to translate the original English version of the Physical Self-Perception Profile into Cantonese Chinese, while considering linguistic and socio-cultural characteristics, and to evaluate its psychometric properties among Chinese breast cancer survivors in Hong Kong, China, thus providing a valid, culturally relevant tool for assessing physical self-esteem among this population.
Methods: The 30-item, 5 subscale Physical Self-Perception Profile was translated into Chinese by the combined translation technique. The psychometric properties of the Cantonese version of the Physical Self-Perception Profile were examined in 292 Hong Kong Chinese breast cancer survivors for internal consistency and test-retest reliability.
Background: A technologically integrated, multidisciplinary approach to stroke rehabilitation service was delivered and embedded into conventional health care practice. This article reports an evaluation of cost-effectiveness analysis of a new Virtual Multidisciplinary Stroke Care Clinic (VMSCC) service for community-dwelling survivors of stroke.
Methods And Results: A randomized controlled trial was conducted.
Aim: To investigate the effects of a multimodal couple-based sexual health intervention for premenopausal women treated for breast cancer and their partners to provide personalised psychosexual care, and to understand participants' experience of, and adherence to, the intervention.
Methods: This is an assessor-blinded, randomised controlled trial. Premenopausal women treated for breast cancer (N = 160) and their partners will be recruited.
Background: Final year nursing students may experience higher levels of stress owing to the increasing complexity and expectations from their clinical practicums. Enhancing psychological readiness may be a potential strategy to enhance nursing students' transition to the clinical area.
Objective: To evaluate the effects of a psychological readiness enhancement for transition to professional practice program and a 10-week clinical practicum on students' psychological wellbeing, resilience, practice readiness and confidence.
Purpose: To investigate the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary effects of a theory-driven multimodal cancer rehabilitation intervention (MCRI) programme among Hong Kong Chinese women treated for female reproductive cancers (FRC).
Methods: A single-blinded randomised controlled trial was conducted in two regional hospitals in Hong Kong involving 35 women treated for FRC. The intervention group (n = 18) received a 12-week MCRI which included 30 modules of app-based health education and three nurse-led individual counselling sessions.
Objective: We assessed financial toxicity (FT) among Chinese patients with cancer and investigated associated risk factors guided by a multilevel conceptual framework.
Methods: Applying multistage stratified sampling, we selected six tertiary and six secondary hospitals across three economically diverse provinces in China. From February to October 2022, 1208 patients with cancer participated.
Background: Health communication in the COVID-19 pandemic can be effectively implemented if all members of the populations, including marginalized population such as migrant domestic workers (MDWs), have good eHealth literacy. Lessons learned during this critical period may help improve planning and mitigation of the impacts of future health crises.
Methods: This study aimed to examine and explore the eHealth literacy levels of the MDWs in Hong Kong during the COVID-19 pandemic by using a convergent mixed methods research design.
