The study compared the effectiveness of panoramic radiography (PR) and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) for diagnosing maxillary sinus diseases in 625 patients, analyzing a total of 1,250 images.
While CBCT identified diseases in 42.96% of cases, PR had a higher diagnosis rate of 58.72%.
The results indicated that CBCT provides a more accurate radiographic differential diagnosis, reducing false positives compared to PR, but each method has its strengths in specific scenarios.
