Schwannoma is a benign tumor arising from Schwann cells of peripheral nerves. Although recurrence is rare, this case report highlights a unique instance of recurrent ulnar nerve schwannoma in a 76-year-old construction worker, emphasizing the complexities of surgical management. The patient presented to our orthopedic clinic with persistent pain and tingling in the medial aspect of his left forearm and hand for the past two years.

Introduction: Vitamin D deficiency increases gingivitis risk. Studies show that higher vitamin D levels reduce inflammation.

Materials And Methods: College conducted a double-blind, randomized, controlled trial on 451 people's vitamin D and gingival health at baseline.

Purpose: A videolaryngoscope(VL) with an intubation conduit like KingVision channeled(KVC) blade may provide an added advantage over a non-channeled VL like a KingVision non-channeled (KVNC) blade and direct laryngoscope (DL) for acquiring and retention of intubation skills, especially in novices.

Methods: In this prospective two-period randomized crossover trial, one hundred medical students used three laryngoscopes KVC, KVNC and DL for intubation following standardized training with the study devices using a Laerdal Airway Management Trainer. After one month, all participants attempted intubation, in the same manner, using all devices.

Gender equality is a fundamental human right and vital to accelerate global progress towards several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Adolescents' involvement is essential to achieve such equality and SDGs to develop peaceful sustainable societies. However, there are limited data especially from developing countries such as India to plan gender equality related programmes targeted at adolescents.

Anti-tumor necrosis agents are being increasingly used in the management of moderate to severe psoriasis. Therapy with antitumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) agents is being fraught with reactivation of latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI). This paper addresses the intricate relation between LTBI and anti-TNF-α agents and provides working guidelines for screening of LTBI and its management before prescribing anti-TNF-α therapy in patients with psoriasis.

Objective: This study tested the hypothesis that systemic inflammation is inversely associated with haemoglobin levels in adolescent girls in India.

Methods: The study population consisted of adolescent girls aged between 10 and 19 years living in a remote rural region in Maharashtra State, India. Data were collected on anthropometric measures, and a venous blood sample was taken and tested for complete blood count and C-reactive protein (CRP).

Domestic violence and assault (DVA) against women is a serious concern in India. This affects the health and wellbeing of victims and their dependents. Published evidence has documented a variety of reasons for such violence in Indian societies, paving a pathway to design, implement, and evaluate intervention models to address this issue.

Antibiotics (antibacterial, antiviral, and antiparasitic) are class of drugs which result in either killing or inhibiting growth and multiplication of infectious organisms. Antibiotics are commonly prescribed by all specialties for treatment of infections. However, antibiotics have hitherto immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties and can be exploited for various noninfectious dermatoses.

Background: There are reportedly more than 250,000 cord blood units [CBU] available in cord blood banks world over, yet, there are many who are unable to get a suitable match. Being the pioneer to set up the first and only public cord blood bank in India, we needed to strategize the pool size that will meet the transplantation needs of the people of Indian origin, worldwide.

Purpose: To define the optimum size of this public cord blood repository [CBR] that will give at least one 5/6 HLA match to a defined number of cord blood graft requests.

Umbilical cord blood is an established source of stem cells useful for hematopoetic reconstitution. The first clinical transplantation in France by Eliane Gluckman in 1988 using HLA matched umbilical cord blood from a sibling on a 6-year-old boy with Fanconi's anemia is an example of a successful transplantation. So far, more than 8,000 patients worldwide have been treated for malignant and inherent blood disorders [1, 2].

We report on a patient with ankylosing spondylitis in association with mitral stenosis, mitral regurgitation, and aortic regurgitation. Despite extensive search of literature, we could not find association of mitral stenosis with ankylosing spondylitis. This report is the first to describe this association.

The following guidelines are recommended for laboratory monitoring of circulating levels of cyclosporine in dermatology patients. Measurements should be determined as trough levels in whole blood, not plasma or serum. The measurements should be performed with an assay that is specific for the parent cyclosporine compound (e.

Column lifetimes of novel dual zone material (DZM) adsorbents were evaluated by direct serum injection analysis for drugs by high-performance liquid chromatography. Porous silica was converted to DZMs in which the outer zone was enriched in an immobilized lipophobic moiety, the perfluorobutylethylenesilyl group, and the internal zone was enriched in a lipophilic octadecylsilyl group. Performance during repetitive serum analyses for phenobarbital and carbamezepine by reverse phase HPLC was compared to that of control adsorbents of the same composition but without the dual zone distribution.

The spontaneously hypertensive rat (SHR) exhibits alterations in the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system which are similar to those that characterize patients with "nonmodulating" hypertension, a common and highly heritable form of essential hypertension. Accordingly, we determined whether the inheritance of a DNA restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) marking the renin gene of the SHR was associated with greater blood pressure than inheritance of a RFLP marking the renin gene of a normotensive control rat. In an F2 population derived from inbred SHR and inbred normotensive Lewis rats, we found the blood pressure in rats that inherited a single SHR renin allele to be significantly greater than that in rats that inherited only the Lewis renin allele.

Spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) and normotensive Wistar-Kyoto ("WKY") rats are frequently employed in experimental studies of hypertension. Although both SHR and WKY rat strains have been presumed to be fully inbred, recent studies have revealed important biologic variability in WKY rats from different commercial sources. Genealogic evidence suggests that, in the United States, breeding stocks of WKY rats may have been distributed to major commercial suppliers as early as the F10 generation.

We describe a rapid, precise, accurate liquid chromatographic procedure for determining urinary catecholamines and 5-S-L-cysteinyl-L-dopa. The catecholamines (norepinephrine, epinephrine, and dopamine) and 5-S-L-cysteinyl-L-dopa are extracted from 1.0 ml of urine together with internal standards, by using a Bond-Elut strong cation-exchange (SCX) and an affinity phenylboronic acid (PBA) extraction column in series.

At present, there are various LC methods available for the determination of estriol, aldosterone, and cortisol in urine, and for cortisol, cortisone, 11-deoxycortisol, corticosterone, 17-hydroxyprogesterone, estriol, vitamin D isomers, and various exogenous glucocorticoids in serum. The LC methods are more specific than the currently available RIAs or homogenous immunoassays. However, whether the data obtained by more specific LC methods are better clinically than the commonly used immunoassays for these steroids must still be proven.
