Modulation transfer function (MTF) was used in comparing the visual outcome units of gamma camera. Polaroid camera system and Micro Dot imager were studied using Polaroid film type 105 positive/negative and Kodak SO-179 X-ray film. It was proved that resolution in the Micro Dot imager is better than in the Polaroid camera system used, especially near the surface of the measuring object.

Static hand grip effort was performed for four minutes at 30% of the maximum contraction. During dynamic exercise the subjects bicycled on an ergometer to 85% of the predicted heart rate for their age.

Using high-speed motion pictures, electromyography, a dynamic piezoelectric force plate, and computer analysis of the data, the gait patterns of fifteen children, four to sixteen years old, with spastic cerebral palsy and genu recurvatum were analyzed to determine the mechanisms producing genu recurvatum and the effect of fixed-ankle below-the-knee orthoses. In all children the recurvatum during stance phase began when the tibia stopped moving forward and disappeared when tibial movement resumed. In six patients (Group I), excessive activity of the calf muscles in response to the increasing dorsiflexion moment about the ankle produced by the foot-floor reaction force arrested the forward motion of the tibia.

The effects of methylprednisolone on the clinical fat embolism syndrome were studied in a series of 60 patients who had at least two fractures of the pelvis, femur and tibia and who did not have any other important injuries. This series was dichotomized at random, and 29 patients were given 10 milligrams per kilogram of methylprednisolone three times, once upon admission and, then, at eight and 16 hours post-traumatically. Thirty-one patients served as controls.
