Wide operation temperature is the crucial objective for an energy storage system that can be applied under harsh environmental conditions. For lithium-sulfur batteries, the "shuttle effect" of polysulfide intermediates will aggravate with the temperature increasing, while the reaction kinetics decreases sharply as the temperature decreasing. With the emergence of multiple predominant SARS-CoV-2 variants, it becomes important to have a comprehensive assessment of their viral fitness and transmissibility. Here, we demonstrate that natural temperature differences between the upper (33°C) and lower (37°C) respiratory tract have profound effects on SARS-CoV-2 replication and transmissibility. Specifically, SARS-CoV-2 variants containing the NSP12 mutations P323L or P323L/G671S exhibit enhanced RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) activity at 33°C compared with 37°C and high transmissibility.

Wavelength-tunable semiconductor nanolasers have attracted tremendous attention for their tunable emissions and robust stability, bringing possibilities for various applications, including nanophotonic circuits, solid-state white-light sources, wavelength-converted devices, and on-chip optical communications. Here, we report on the demonstration of broadband-tunable, single-mode nanolasers based on high-quality alloyed single crystalline CdSSe ( = 0-1) nanotripods with well-formed facets fabricated using a conventional CVD approach. Microstructural characterization and optical investigations reveal that these structures are crystalline with composition-tunable CdSSe alloys.

This paper jointly considers syntactic, semantic, and phonological/phonetic factors in approaching an understanding of , a remote past marker in African American English that has been described as "stressed." It brings together data from the Corpus of Regional African American Language (CORAAL) and a production study in a small African American English-speaking community in southwest Louisiana to investigate the use and phonetic realization of constructions. Only 20 instances of constructions were found in CORAAL.

Since the emergence of one-dimensional nanostructures, in particular the bandgap-graded semiconductor nanowires/ribbons or heterostructures, lots of attentions have been devoted to unraveling their intriguing properties and finding applications for future developments in optical communications and integrated optoelectronic devices. In particular, the ability to modulate the bandgap along a single nanostructure greatly enhances their functionalities in optoelectronics, and hence these studies are essential to pave the way for future high-integrated devices and circuits. Herein, we focus on a brief review on recent advances about the synthesis through a magnetic-pulled chemical vapor deposition approach, crystal structure and the unique optical and electronic properties of on-nanostructures semiconductors, including axial nanowire heterostructures, asymmetrical/symmetric bandgap gradient nanowires, lateral heterostructure nanoribbons, lateral bandgap graded ribbons.

The threat of severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) to public health has been increasing due to the rapid spread of the ticks that carry the causative viral agent. The SFTS virus (SFTSV) was first identified in China and subsequently detected in neighboring countries, including South Korea, Japan, and Vietnam. In addition to the tick-mediated infection, human-to-human transmission has been recently reported with a high mortality rate; however, differential study of the pathogen has been limited by the route of infection.
