Electrochemical CO reduction (COR) using heterogenized molecular catalysts usually yields 2-electron reduction products (CO, formate). Recently, it has been reported that certain preparations of immobilized cobalt phthalocyanine (CoPc) produce methanol (MeOH), a 6-electron reduction product. How can scientists best inform the public and change attitudes? Does the message or the messenger matter more? We test the effect of scientific expert messengers and messages in a preregistered, nationally representative survey experiment in the United States. Consistent with our hypotheses, scientists can move public attitudes in areas where knowledge is based on a non-ideological misperception to a greater extent than the same science-based message from another source. Although we focus on political science as a field and Congressional term limits in the United States as a topic area, our findings have broader implications for science communication with policymaking relevance given the persistence of misperceptions among the public across all natural and social science research fields.

Primatologists have a long-standing interest in the study of maternal care and nonmaternal handling (NH) of infants stemming from recognition that early social relationships can have enduring consequences. Though maternal care and NH often include expression of similar behaviors, they are regularly studied in isolation from each other with nonoverlapping terminology, thereby overlooking possible interplay between them and obfuscating potential developmental ramifications that ensue from trade-offs made between maternal (MH) and NH during infancy. To that end, identifying how MH and NH patterns interact and contribute to the total handling (TH) infants receive is a critical first step.

Bicyclic guanidines are utilized in organic synthesis as base catalysts or reagents. They also offer a platform for coordination chemistry, for example in CO activation, and their carboxylate salts offer an efficient media for cellulose dissolution. Regioselective modifications of cellulose using activated cellulose derivatives such as 6-halo-6-deoxycelluloses provide a convenient approach for developing sustainable products with properties tailored to specific applications. However, maintaining precise regiochemical control of substituent distribution in 6-halo-6-deoxycelluloses is challenging due to their insolubility in most common solvents and the resulting difficulties in precise structure elucidation by modern instrumental analytical techniques. Method: This preplanned secondary analysis of 2 large, multicenter trials included a randomized, crossover trial conducted from November 2019 to June 2020 of 100 residents that compared driving and seated condition for two 30-minute podcasts and a randomized, crossover trial conducted from September 2022 to January 2023 of 95 EM residents that compared exercise with seated condition for the same two 30-minute podcasts. Each podcast contained 6 journal article reviews, with the segments recorded in forward or backward order.

Background: The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic decreased surgical volumes, but prior studies have not investigated recovery through 2022, or analyzed specific procedures or cases of urgency within orthopedic surgery. The aims of this study were to (1) quantify the declines in orthopedic surgery volume during and after the pandemic peak, (2) characterize surgical volume recovery during the postvaccination period, and (3) characterize recovery in the 1-year postvaccine release period.
