The current level of aliphatic and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons was determined in suspended particulate matter of waters (mainly in surface waters) and in upper layer of bottom sediments of coastal areas in the Caucasian sector of the Black Sea of the Russian Federation (September 2021, May and September 2022, March 2023). IR method was used to determine the aliphatic hydrocarbons, and the method of high performance liquid chromatography was employed for PAHs. The average concentration of aliphatic hydrocarbons was ≈20 μg/L and for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons ≈130 ng/L in suspended particulate matter in open surface waters of Gelendzhik and Golubaya bays.

We present a robust radiocarbon (C) chronology for burials at Sakhtysh, in European Russia, where nearly 180 inhumations of Lyalovo and Volosovo pottery-using hunter-gatherer-fishers represent the largest known populations of both groups. Past dating attempts were restricted by poor understanding of dietary C reservoir effects (DREs). We developed a DRE correction approach that uses multiple linear regression of differences in C, δC, and δN between bones and teeth of the same individuals to predict DREs of up to approximately 900 years.

The nigrostriatal system composed of the dorsal striatum and the substantia nigra (SN) is highly involved in the control of motor behavior. Various extremal and pathological conditions as well as social isolation (SI) may cause an impairment of locomotor function; however, corresponding alterations in the nigrostriatal dopaminergic pathway are far from full understanding. Here, we analyzed the effect of 3-day hindlimb unloading (HU) and SI on the key players of dopamine transmission in the nigrostriatal system of CD1 mice.

The concentrations and composition of hydrocarbons - HCs (aliphatic - AHCs and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons - PAHs) in the Barents and Kara Seas (cruises 80, 83 and 89 of the R/V «Akademik Mstislav Keldysh», August 2020, June 2021, September 2022 respectively) are analyzed in the paper. The concentrations of the HC dissolved and suspended forms were measured in the surface microlayer (SML, 100-1000 μm thick), melting ice and surface waters. Higher concentration of HCs in SML was found in suspended particulate matter (SPM).

The results on the content and composition of aliphatic (AHСs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) at the geochemical barrier between the Kara Sea and the Ob and Yenisei Rivers are discussed in comparison with those in the mouth areas of the Lena, Khatanga, Indigirka and Kolyma. It has been established that hydrocarbon concentrations sharply decrease in the river-sea mixing zones, and their composition, and the ratio of their dissolved and suspended forms change. Besides, the research season plays a great role, as the highest content of hydrocarbons and particulate matter was found in the Ob Gulf during the flood, when the concentrations of AHCs in surface waters reached 325 μg/L, PAHs -15 ng/L, particulate matter-15.

The results of studying the content and composition of aliphatic hydrocarbons and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the suspended particulate matter of surface waters and in the surface layer of bottom sediments in 2019-2021 in the Kerch Strait in comparison with earlier studies in other areas of the Black Sea (Theodosia Gulf, Tuapse area, Coastal waters of the Crimean Peninsula, Big Sochi, Central part of the Sea) are presented. Despite the high concentrations of aliphatic hydrocarbons (especially in the waters of the strait itself: 28-254 on average 87 μg/L. The highest content of aliphatic hydrocarbons was confined to the cross-section through the Kerch Strait.

Highlighted are the data on the functional state of the cardiovascular, respiratory and muscular systems of schoolchildren and adult workers, the data obtained while using systems quantitation of professional activity. It is shown that compared to workers the schoolchildren perform various operations of production quantum with higher physiologic strain. Established changes in systole frequency of schoolchildren confirm some strain of their functional circulatory system because of insufficient training and higher response of the cardiovascular system to work load.
