Isocyanide-based multicomponent reactions - especially the standard four component Ugi reaction - provide an easy and powerful access to compounds with an auspicious pharmacological potential. Therefore, a set of 16 novel derivatives of the diterpene dehydroabietylamine was synthesized by the Ugi-4CR. The subsequent screening of the synthesized α-acylamino carboxamides in colorimetric sulforhodamine B assays revealed an in vitro cytotoxicity towards several human tumor cell lines.

Background: Although many authors have reported the incidence of Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease (LCPD), there have been few incidence studies in the United States on large, self-contained populations such as those within an integrated health system. Understanding the epidemiology and demographics of LCPD in this setting may help clinicians identify patients at the greatest risk and aid in diagnosis and subsequent treatment.

Questions/purposes: In this study we sought (1) to determine the incidence and demographics of LCPD in a large cohort of children and adolescents in a Southern California integrated healthcare system, and (2) to identify any demographic or clinical factors (such as age, sex, race/ethnicity, or BMI) that are independently associated with LCPD.

This case represents the challenge and creativity necessary when treating patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma who have been exposed to multiple lines of therapy. At present, treatment with immune checkpoint inhibition has stabilized and improved the metastatic disease of this patient with the exception of hepatic lesions.
