Introduction: We sought to examine the association between pre-existing caregiving strain levels and care recipient health outcomes following a new cancer diagnosis.

Materials And Methods: We used the National Health and Aging Trends Study (NHATS) linked with the National Study of Caregiving (NSOC) and Medicare claims to identify older adults receiving family caregiving within one year before an index cancer diagnosis. Caregiving strain was determined using NSOC items of self-reported emotional, physical, and financial difficulties measured before the cancer diagnosis.

Objective: Induction of labor (IOL) is a controversial topic in contemporary obstetric practice, with some suggesting that the increase in elective induction (eIOL) as a potential contributor to increasing cesarean delivery (CD) rates. The objectives of this single-center study were to examine the rates of IOL, trends in indications for IOL, and the contribution of IOL to the overall CD rate at one of Europe's largest obstetric hospitals.

Methods: This retrospective observational cohort study evaluated the outcomes of patients who were delivered following IOL from 2018 to 2022 inclusive at the largest obstetric hospital in Ireland.

The University of North Carolina Cancer Survivorship Cohort: A Resource for Collaborative Survivorship Research.

Background: Rapid growth in the number of US cancer survivors drives the need for ongoing research efforts to improve outcomes and experiences after cancer. In this study, we describe the University of North Carolina (UNC) Cancer Survivorship Cohort, a medical center-based cohort of adults with cancer that integrates medical record-abstracted cancer information, patient-reported outcomes, and biological specimens.

Methods: Participants ages 18+ were recruited from UNC oncology clinics between April 2010 and August 2016.

A comparison of adult-child and spousal cancer caregivers' participation in medical decisions.

Background: Family caregivers often play a key role in medical decision-making for patients with cancer. Adult-children account for nearly half of caregivers, but often have less experience with serious illness care and decision-making and face unique relational challenges as the patient's child. Yet little research explores the potentially distinctive decision-making, involvement in decisions, and support needs of adult-child caregivers.

Rural Hospital Closures: A Scoping Review of Studies Published Between 1990 and 2020.

Between 1990 and 2020, 334 rural hospitals closed in the United States, and since 2011 hospital closures have outnumbered new hospital openings. This scoping review evaluates peer-reviewed studies published since 1990 with a focus on rural hospital closures, synthesizing studies across six themes: 1) health care policy environment, 2) precursors to rural hospital closures, 3) economic impacts, 4) effects of rural hospital closures on access to care, 5) health and community impacts, and 6) definitions of rural hospitals and communities. In the 1990s, rural hospitals that closed were smaller, while rural hospitals that closed in the 2010s tended to have more beds.
