Two dwarf bunt resistance QTLs were mapped to chromosome 6D, and KASP markers associated with the loci were developed and validated in a panel of regionally adapted winter wheats. UI Silver is an invaluable adapted resistant cultivar possessing the two identified QTL potentially associated with genes Bt9 and Bt10 and will be useful in future cultivar development to improve dwarf bunt resistance. Dwarf bunt, caused by Tilletia controversa, is a fungal disease of wheat that can cause complete loss of grain yield and quality during epidemics.

Monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides have garnered significant interest due to their strong light-matter interaction and extreme sensitivity of the band structure to the presence of photogenerated electron-hole pairs. In this study, we investigate the transient electronic structure of monolayer WS on a graphene substrate after resonant excitation of the A-exciton using time- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFOlfactory neuroblastoma (ONB), sinonasal undifferentiated carcinoma (SNUC), and sinonasal neuroendocrine carcinoma (SNEC) are rare malignancies arising from the sinonasal tract with limited therapeutic options. The expression of the somatostatin receptor 2 gene (), which is expressed in other neuroendocrine neoplasms and is therapeutically actionable, has been reported in these tumors. Here, we analyzed gene expression and its associations with genomic features, established biomarkers predicting of immune response, and the tumor immune microenvironment in a cohort of ONB, SNUC, and SNEC tumor samples (26, 13, and 8 samples, respectively) from a real-world database.

Hyperspectral imaging (HSI) technology provides a non-destructive method for detailed analysis and monitoring of plant tissues and organ development, but unfortunately examples for its application to root systems and the root-soil interface are very scarce. There is also a notable lack of standardized guidelines for image acquisition and data analysis pipelines.

We followed a phase 1 pilot investigation of the feasibility of prospective ISS estimation (eISS) by trauma surgeons within 1 day of admission with an investigation of the impact of a simple educational aid on the accuracy of these estimations. Eleven surgeons evaluated 178 patients in phase 2.

Objective: This retrospective study covering a longitudinal period of up to 7 years compares the efficacy of segmented and non-segmented leads in motor symptom alleviation and reduction of dopaminergic medication in PD patients treated in a specialized center and assesses the long-term use of directional steering in clinical routine.
Methods: Demographic data and clinical scores before surgery and at 12-month follow-up (12MFU) as well as stimulation parameters at 12MFU and last follow-up (LFU) were assessed in all patients implanted with segmented leads between 01/2016 and 12/2019 and non-segmented leads in a corresponding time-period.
Introduction: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical and radiological results of complex lateral tibial plateau fractures involving the central segments of the lateral tibial plateau. It was hypothesized that an extended lateral approach by using the lateral epicondyle osteotomy improves the rate of malreduction and yields to good and excellent clinical results at a mid-term follow-up.
Methods: This retrospective case series conducted at two centers evaluated complex lateral tibial plateau fractures treated with an extended lateral approach by lateral epicondyle osteotomy.
Background: Gene copy number gain (CNG) is a continuous variable. The relevant cutpoint for HER2, KRAS and MET CNG in non-mall cell lung cancer remains uncertain. As de novo driver oncogenes are largely mutually exclusive, oncogene overlap analysis can be used to explore CNG thresholds.

A cross-sectional survey was conducted among LGBTQ + adults living in New Jersey and New York to examine vaccination behaviors for Mpox. We sought out to understand the health experiences and behaviors of the population during the initial outbreak.

Background And Objectives: Autoimmune nodopathies with antibodies against the paranodal proteins show a distinct phenotype of a severe sensorimotor neuropathy. In some patients, complete remission can be achieved after treatment with rituximab whereas others show a chronic course. For optimal planning of treatment, predicting the course of disease and therapeutic response is crucial.

Under hydroformylation reaction conditions, spectroscopic investigations unravel the presence of both single atoms and clusters and detected at first propanal and then methanol. We find that the formation of methanol is associated with CO hydrogenation over Rh clusters which was further confirmed under CO hydrogenation conditions at elevated pressure.

We analyzed complete and nationwide data for Germany, a country with a large intensive care sector, before, during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Methods: Analysis of administrative claims data, provided by the German health insurance, from all hospitals for all individual patients who were mechanically ventilated between 2019 and 2022.
Background: Plant meristems are structured organs consisting of distinct layers of stem cells, which differentiate into new plant tissue. Mutations in meristematic layers can propagate into large sectors of the plant. However, the characteristics of meristematic mutations remain unclear, limiting our understanding of the genetic basis of somaclonal phenotypic variation.

Here, we show that plasma extracellular vesicles (EVs) contain quantifiable amounts of TDP-43 and full-length tau, which allow the quantification of 3-repeat (3R) and 4-repeat (4R) tau isoforms. Plasma EV TDP-43 levels and EV 3R/4R tau ratios were determined in a cohort of 704 patients, including 37 genetically and 31 neuropathologically proven cases.

This review examines the treatment and prophylaxis of fungal infections in ECMO patients, proposing specific regimens based on available data for different antifungals (azoles, echinocandins, amphotericin B/liposomal amphotericin B) and invasive fungal infections. Currently, isavuconazole and posaconazole have the most supported data, while modified dosages of isavuconazole are recommended in ECMO.

Tafenoquine, which is approved for malaria prophylaxis and presumptive antirelapse treatment of Plasmodium vivax malaria, has shown activity against Babesia microti in several animal models of acute infection and in a single human case of relapsing babesiosis. Here, we report 5 cases of relapsing babesiosis treated with tafenoquine, including the previous case, and begin to define the conditions for optimal use of tafenoquine in relapsing babesiosis.
