Crohn's disease (CD) is an inflammatory bowel disease affecting any portion of the gastrointestinal tract, usually the terminal ileum and the colon, with clinical manifestations such as diarrhea, fever, and weight loss. Clinical presentation of CD may include complications such as enterovesical fistulas, abscesses, strictures, and perianal disease. CD also classically presents with "skipping lesions," unlike ulcerative colitis (UC), which presents with continuous lesions.

Background: Twitter is a popular social networking site where short messages or "tweets" of users have been used extensively for research purposes. However, not much research has been done in mining the medical professions, such as detecting the occupations of users from their biographical contents. Mining such professions can be used to build efficient recommender systems for cost-effective targeted advertisements.

Autoimmune Polyglandular Syndrome (APS) spans three types of autoimmune disorders, categorized as APS type 1, type 2, and type 3. APS type 1 (APS-1) is the rarest type of the three. Complications of APS-1 can affect the bones, joints, skin, nails, gonads, eyes, thyroid, and several internal organs.

Early management of head injury in adults in primary care.

Head injury is common and preventable. Assessment of the head injury patient includes airway, cervical spine protection, breathing, circulation, haemorrhage control and the Glasgow Coma Scale. Hypotension, hypoxia, hypocarbia and hypercarbia should be avoided by continuous monitoring of vital signs and hourly head chart to prevent secondary brain injury.

Effectiveness of home versus hospital phototherapy for term infants with uncomplicated hyperbilirubinemia: a pilot study in Pahang, Malaysia.

A comparative pilot study was conducted to determine the difference in the reduction of total serum bilirubin in a group of infants who had phototherapy at home compared to an in-patient group on hospital phototherapy. Eighteen infants with unconjugated hyperbilirubinaemia who fitted the selection criteria were put under the mobile home unit (Bluelite Portable Light) placed in the home. A control group of 18 infants with the same matching characteristics had intense phototherapy in the hospital using a unit with top and bottom light sources.
