[Embolization of the internal maxillary artery for severe epistaxis--including an experience of the approach from the superficial temporal artery].

Six cases of severe epistaxis were treated with the super-selective intraarterial embolization of the internal maxillary artery. Tens of fragments of Gelfoam were delivered into the distal internal maxillary artery and, additionally, embolized by several pieces of the coils. In a case with cerebral infraction, catheter was inserted via the superficial temporal artery.

The localization of motoneurons innervating the canine pharyngeal constrictor muscles in the posterior larynx, i.e., the hyopharyngeal muscle (HP), the thyropharyngeal muscle (TP) and the cricopharyngeal muscle (CP), was investigated by the fluorescent labeling technique.

[Clinical studies of cefotiam in otorhinolaryngologic infections].

Cefotiam (CTM) was intravenously given to 12 patients with infectious diseases in the field of otorhinolaryngology including 10 cases with chronic suppurative otitis media. Daily doses of CTM were 1 to 4 g. Clinical responses were excellent in 3 patients, good in 5, fair in 1 and poor in 3.

[Clinical study of cefsulodin on infectious diseases in otorhinolaryngological field].

The clinical effect of cefsulodin (CFS) on Pseudomonas species infections in otorhinolaryngologic field was studied in 10 patients. The overall clinical effectiveness was 80% (excellent 4, good 4, poor 2). The bacteriological response of CFS against Pseudomonas species was evaluated from 11 strains.
