Article Synopsis
  • Neurolymphomatosis (NL) is a rare condition where lymphoma cells invade the peripheral nervous system, and its treatment options and prognosis are not well-defined.
  • This study investigates predictive factors for secondary NL, revealing common chromosomal abnormalities, like deletions on chromosome 10, which may aid in early detection.
  • When patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma show neurological symptoms and chromosomal abnormalities, there’s a potential risk for developing secondary NL that should be evaluated.

Compact lasers capable of producing kilowatt class peak power are highly desirable for applications in various fields, including laser remote sensing, laser micromachining, and biomedical photonics. In this paper, we propose a high-peak-power chip-scale semiconductor/solid-state vertically integrated laser in which two cavities are optically coupled at the solid-state laser gain medium. The first cavity is for the intra-pumping of ytterbium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (Yb:YAG) with an electrically driven indium gallium arsenide (InGaAs) quantum well, and the second cavity consists of Yb:YAG and chromium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (Cr:YAG) for passive Q-switching.

Unlabelled: Host defense (antimicrobial) peptides not only display antimicrobial activities against numerous pathogens but also exert a broader spectrum of immune-modulating functions. Innate defense regulators (IDRs) are a class of host defense peptides synthetically developed from natural or endogenous cationic host defense peptides. Of the IDRs developed to date, IDR-1018 is more efficient not only in killing bacteria but also in regulating the various functions of macrophages and neutrophils and accelerating the wound healing process.

Thiol compounds with low-molecular weight, such as glutathione, mycothiol (MSH), bacillithiol, and ergothioneine (ERG), are known to protect microorganisms from oxidative stresses. Mycobacteria and actinobacteria utilize both MSH and ERG. The biological functions of MSH in mycobacteria have been extensively studied by genetic and biochemical studies, which have suggested it has critical roles for detoxification in cells.

In this paper, we describe about a developed navigation system that supports the independent walking of the visually impaired in the indoor space. This system is composed of colored navigation lines, RFID tags and an intelligent white cane. In our system, some colored marking tapes are set on along the walking route.
