Context: The response to treatment with vitamin D varies between patients.
Objective: To identify genetic variants associated with the biochemical response to vitamin D3 supplementation.
Design: Randomized placebo-controlled trial conducted between 2017 and 2019.
We investigated associations of menopausal age category with body mass index (BMI), waist circumference, waist-hip ratio, and waist-height ratio. We also explored the moderating effect of anthropometric measures on associations of menopausal age category with prespecified sex hormones: estradiol, dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), sex hormone-binding globulin, bioavailable testosterone, and total testosterone-estradiol (T/E) ratio. In this cross-sectional study, we included 2,436 postmenopausal women from the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis who had menopausal age, anthropometric, and sex hormone data at baseline.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground And Objectives: Faculty members who are underrepresented in medicine (URM) may benefit from mentorship that is designed specifically to meet their unique needs and is focused on improving their career pathways in academic medicine. The Underrepresented in Medicine Mentorship Program (URM-MP) is an academic society-based mentorship program that pairs early career URM faculty with mid- to late-career faculty specifically trained to address URM issues.
Methods: During the first 3 years of the program, mentors received web-based training on addressing oppression and marginalization of URM faculty in academic medicine.
Background: There is significant heterogeneity in cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk among patients with diabetes mellitus (DM).
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to develop risk scores for total CVD and its components from a contemporary pooled, observational cohort of U.S.
