SARCP, a Clinical Next-Generation Sequencing Assay for the Detection of Gene Fusions in Sarcomas: A Description of the First 652 Cases.

An amplicon-based targeted next-generation sequencing (NGS) assay for the detection of gene fusions in sarcomas was developed, validated, and implemented. This assay can detect fusions in targeted regions of 138 genes and BCOR internal tandem duplications. This study reviews our experience with testing on the first 652 patients analyzed.

Risk of avascular necrosis in patients with inflammatory bowel disease: Insights from a nationwide cohort study and the impact of corticosteroid use.

Background And Aim: Corticosteroid use is a risk factor for avascular necrosis (AVN) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients are often exposed to higher corticosteroid usage. We investigated the epidemiology and risk factors of AVN in a nationwide population-based cohort of IBD patients.

Methods: Patients newly diagnosed with IBD were identified, and sex- and age-matched participants from the general population were selected in a 1:3 IBD:non-IBD ratio.

Discovery and optimization of spirocyclic lactams that inhibit acyl-ACP thioesterase.

Background: There are various methods to control weeds, that represent considerable challenges for farmers around the globe, although applying small molecular compounds is still the most effective and versatile technology to date. In the search for novel chemical entities with new modes-of-action that can control weeds displaying resistance, we have investigated two spirocyclic classes of acyl-ACP thioesterase inhibitors based on X-ray co-crystal structures and subsequent modelling studies.

Results: By exploiting scaffold-hopping and isostere concepts, we were able to identify new spirolactam-based lead structures showing promising activity in vivo against commercially important grass weeds in line with strong target affinity.

Redo hepatic artery reconstruction for thrombosis without retransplantation in 1355 adult living donor liver transplantations.

Hepatic artery thrombosis (HAT) after liver transplantation is associated with a marked increase in morbidity, leading to graft and patient loss. We evaluated the outcomes of adult living donor liver transplantation patients with HAT under an aggressive surgical intervention. A total of 1355 recipients underwent adult living donor liver transplantation at the Seoul National University Hospital.
