Group medical visits in cancer survivorship care: a scoping review.

Background: More than 60% of cancer survivors report unmet physical, psychosocial, and informational needs. The care of cancer survivors includes surveillance, health maintenance monitoring, referral for long-term adverse effects of cancer treatment, and coordination of care. Group medical visits (GMV) include medical care, education, and peer support and can be used to facilitate the delivery of multidisciplinary survivorship care.

A SONAR report on Nirmatrelvir/ritonavir-associated rebound COVID-19: Using new databases for evaluating new diseases.

Introduction: In May 2022, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention disseminated an alert advising that "a few" persons with Nirmatrelvir/ritonavir (NM/R)-associated rebound of COVID-19 infection had been identified. Three case reports appearing as pre-print postings described the first cases. Analyses in March 2023 by NM/R's manufacturer and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reported no association between NM/R and COVID-19 rebound in a large phase 3 randomized clinical trial.

Rare encounter: facial vein thrombosis and thrombophlebitis as a complication of acute submandibular sialadenitis.

Thrombosis and thrombophlebitis of the facial vein represent exceptionally rare diagnoses, particularly when occurring as complications of acute sialadenitis of the submandibular gland. This case report details the experience of a middle-aged man initially presenting at a tertiary care ear, nose and throat department with right submandibular gland sialadenitis. Despite initiating outpatient treatment involving oral antibiotics and sialagogues, the patient returned after a week with persistent and worsening pain, accompanied by swelling of the right submandibular gland and cheek.

Surgical Cancer Care in Safety-Net Hospitals: a Systematic Review.

Background: Tertiary medical centers in the USA provide specialized, high-volume surgical cancer care, contributing standards for quality and outcomes. For the most vulnerable populations, safety-net hospitals (SNHs) remain the predominant provider of both complex and routine healthcare needs. The objective of this study was to evaluate access to and quality of surgical oncology care within SNHs.
