Students' experiences of placements in urban indigenous health contexts: developing a culturally responsive workforce.

Background: A culturally responsive health workforce is essential to ensure the delivery of culturally safe health services that meet Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples needs. In partnership with universities, placement providers play an essential role in creating opportunities for immersive experiences that enable students to develop their cultural responsiveness. This study evaluated students' experiences of an innovative student placement model embedded within an urban Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community-Controlled Health Organisation.

Monogenic lupus - from gene to targeted therapy.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a prototypic autoimmune disease characterized by loss of tolerance to nuclear antigens. The formation of autoantibodies and the deposition of immune complexes trigger inflammatory tissue damage that can affect any part of the body. In most cases, SLE is a complex disease involving multiple genetic and environmental factors.

Pharmacokinetics, Safety, and Efficacy of Letermovir for Cytomegalovirus Prophylaxis in Adolescent Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation Recipients.

Introduction: Letermovir is a cytomegalovirus (CMV) terminase complex inhibitor approved for prophylaxis of CMV infection and disease in adult CMV-seropositive allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT) recipients (R+). We report pharmacokinetics (PK), safety, and efficacy of letermovir in adolescent (12-18 years) allogeneic HCT recipients from an ongoing clinical study.

Methods: In this phase 2b, multicenter, open-label study (NCT03940586), 28 adolescents received 480 mg letermovir [240 mg with cyclosporin A (CsA)] once daily orally or intravenously.

Vaccine Mandates and Cultural Safety.

The issues and problems of mandatory vaccination policy and roll out in First Nations communities are unique and do not concern the safety and effectiveness of vaccines. These issues are also independent of more specific arguments of mandatory vaccination of healthcare workers as a condition of employment. As important as these issues are, they do not consider the complex politics of ongoing settler colonialism and First Nations community relations.
