The objective of this work is to formulate, optimize and evaluate in-lay tablets of tramadol-paracetamol. This study investigated the effect of hydrophobic, plastic and hydrophilic types of polymers and their content level on release profile of a highly water-soluble drug tramadol hydrochloride. A 3(2) full factorial design was employed for the optimization of the sustained release (SR) formula of tramadol hydrochloride using ethyl cellulose, eudragit and carbopol.

A herpesvirus was isolated from tumours of the ethmoidal mucosa in two of three head of cattle in the State of Kerala, India. The virus designated M40 was cytopathic for a variety of cultured bovine and porcine cells and it did not kill suckling mice or chicken embryos. Sera from tumour-bearing cattle and goats reacted with the M40 virus.

The distribution and ultrastructure of mast cells in the duck were studied. Carnoy's fluid was found to be the best fixative, and Padawer's method was found to be useful in demonstrating the metachromasia. Mast cells were seen in many of the organs and were most numerous in the proventriculus.

An experiment was carried out to measure the cell mediated immune response in pigs by sensitising the animals with 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene (DNCB). The pigs could be sensitised with one application of DNCB. The appropriate site for application and the sensitising and challenge dose were standardised.
