Results of surgical treatment of children with Chiari I malformation using differentiated intraoperative tactics of choosing the volume of intervention.

Background: Despite the presence of numerous publications and analytical reviews in the foreign literature, there is no universally accepted algorithm for the surgical treatment of Chiari I malformation (MC I) in children. Moreover, in the domestic literature, the number of publications devoted to the problems of surgical treatment of MC I in children is significantly limited, which, in our opinion, this is the reason for the relevance of this work.

Objective: To study the results of surgical treatment of children with MC I when applying differentiated tactics of intraoperative choice of intervention volume.

C2 spinal nerve tumors in young adults: report of two cases and review of the literature.

C2 spinal nerve schwannomas are rarely encountered, especially in children and young adults. Due to their localization surgical management encompasses a number of distinctive features. We describe two cases of C2 spinal nerve tumors, schwannoma and neurofibroma, in patients aged 13 and 17, respectively.

Occult tethered cord syndrome: a reversible cause of paraparesis not to be missed.

A 15-year-old female former gymnast with a history of pectus excavatum was reviewed due to unexplained paraparesis and urinary incontinence since age 10. Symptoms were commenced with intolerable upper back pain and development of a soft mass at the sacrum that remitted spontaneously. Brain and whole spine MRI imaging and blood and CSF testing were normal.

[Arteriovenous malformations and epileptic seizures in children: risk factors of seizures and efficacy of their control depending on the surgical treatment modality].

Unlabelled: Epileptic seizures are some of the most frequent manifestations of cerebral AVMs in children. Poor control of seizures can significantly affect patients' quality of life. In this case, factors that are associated with the development of seizures and affect the efficacy of their control upon treatment of cerebral AVMs are not well understood.
