Since the very beginning of the scientific presence of Ukraine in the Antarctic, biomedical research has been developed for the monitoring of individual biomarkers of winterers and medical accompaniment in Antarctic expeditions. The aim of the study was to analyze and discuss the retrospective data of long-term monitoring and observations in Ukrainian Antarctica station "Akademik Vernadsky," providing multi-scale biomedical information with regard to conditions of a perfect isolation from technological and social influences and under extreme environmental factors.

It was investigated the features of microcirculation and mechanisms it's conditioned, under acute administration of sodium nitrite in 5 mg of dry substance per 100 g of body weight. It was shown that acute administration of sodium nitrite leads to the development of methemoglobinemia, arterial and venous hypoxemia, and severe tissue hypoxia. Increase in the diffusion path O2 at methemoglobinemia is caused due to significant hyperhydratation of lung air-blood barrier and its individual layers, and is accompanied by a decrease in both components of the diffusion capacity of the lungs for oxygen: its membrane and blood components.

Introduction: Recently, particular attention has been focused on the problem of the beneficial influence of intermittent hypoxia (IH) on the human organism. However, knowledge regarding the negative effects of intermittent hypoxic training (IHT) on cellular adaptive mechanisms remains limited. The aim of the present study was to investigate: 1) lung and heart ultrastructural changes under IHT; and 2) the adequateness of morphological and morphometric methods to determine the constructive and destructive displays of hypoxia.

Obtained dates testify that with the changes of cAMP and cGMP concentrations, and also with their ratio the level of hyperhydratation of air-blood and blood-tissue barriers under the used influence on the organism are closely correlated. Intercommunication of the cyclic nucleotides system functioning and tissues oxygen consumption at the used influences carries sufficiently difficult and ambiguous character.
