Comparing the Rates of Further Resection After Intraoperative MRI Visualisation of Residual Tumour Between Brain Tumour Subtypes: A 17-Year Single-Centre Experience.

Background: Maximal safe resection is the objective of most neuro-oncological operations. Intraoperative magnetic resonance imaging (iMRI) may guide the surgeon to improve the extent of safe resection. There is limited evidence comparing the impact of iMRI on the rates of further resection between tumour types.

Monitoring defects in plates using topological acoustic sensing and sideband peak counting.

We demonstrate an integrated non-destructive inspection methodology that employs the nonlinear ultrasonics-based sideband peak counting (SPC) technique in conjunction with topological acoustics (TA) sensing to comprehensively characterize the acoustic response of steel plates that contain differing levels of damage. By combining the SPC technique and TA, increased sensitivity to defect/damage detection as well as the ability to spatially resolve the presence of defects was successfully established. Towards this end, using a Rockwell hardness indenter, steel plates were subject to one, three and five centrally located indentations respectively.

Morphology controlled CuBiS nanostructures: superior electrocatalytic sensing of organic nitro compounds.

Addressing the pressing need to develop affordable and efficient catalysts is essential. In this study, we successfully synthesized CuBiS nanostructures with a modified morphology using three different nitrogen bases: DBN, DBU, and DABCO a hydrothermal technique. These nanostructures were used for the electrochemical detection of organic nitro groups, a previously unexplored application for this material.

RhoA Allosterically Activates Phospholipase Cε via its EF Hands.

Phospholipase Cε (PLCε) cleaves phosphatidylinositol lipids to increase intracellular Ca and activate protein kinase C (PKC) in response to stimulation of cell surface receptors. PLCε is activated via direct binding of small GTPases at the cytoplasmic leaflets of cellular membranes. In the cardiovascular system, the RhoA GTPase regulates PLCε to initiate a cardioprotective pathway, but the underlying molecular mechanism is not known.

Effective communication by health care workers to promote HPV vaccination: Lessons learned from Kenya, India, and Nigeria.

Health care workers play an essential role in maintaining the public trust in vaccination programmes globally, and more specifically, in low- and middle-income countries. This role is particularly important in building trust in the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine. While there are many factors that affect HPV vaccine acceptance, health care workers are one of the most critical influences in the decision-making process among parents as well as adolescent girls.
