Long-term results of operative treatment of 191 patients with ulcers of gastric localization were studied at terms from 1 year to 10 years. In 40 patients with malignant ulcers the recurrent cancer appeared within 5 years after resection of the stomach, during the first year--in 95%. In a group of 19 patients with malignant ulcers not diagnosed before operation recurrent cancer has also appeared in half of the patients, but during the first year in 1/3 only.
