MEETING HIGHLIGHTS: THE THIRD MARIE SKŁODOWSKA-CURIE SYMPOSIUM ON CANCER RESEARCH AND CARE AT ROSWELL PARK COMPREHENSIVE CANCER CENTER, BUFFALO, NY, SEPTEMBER 20-22, 2023.

Marie Skłodowska-Curie Symposia on Cancer Research and Care (MSCS-CRC) promote collaborations between cancer researchers and care providers in the United States, Canada and Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC), to accelerate the development of new cancer therapies, advance early detection and prevention, increase cancer awareness, and improve cancer care and the quality of life of patients and their families. The third edition of MSCS-CRC, held at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, Buffalo, NY, in September 2023, brought together 137 participants from 20 academic institutions in the US, Poland, Ukraine, Lithuania, Croatia and Hungary, together with 16 biotech and pharma entities. The key areas of collaborative opportunity identified during the meeting are a) creating of a database of available collaborative projects in the areas of early-phase clinical trials, preclinical development, and identification of early biomarkers; b) promoting awareness of cancer risks and efforts at cancer prevention; c) laboratory and clinical training; and d) sharing experience in cost-effective delivery of cancer care and improving the quality of life of cancer patients and their families.

Is There "A Best" Centric Relation Record? Centric Relation Records, Condyle Positions, and Their Practical Significance.

Purpose: To investigate if and how the positions of condyles in centric relation (CR) varied from each other using different CR records.

Materials And Methods: Condylar positions in CR were repeatedly recorded by four licensed clinicians in 81 stomatognathically healthy, fully dentate subjects with six different types of CR records. The maxillary casts were mounted in articulators after individual facebow transfer, and the mandibular casts were mounted with a central bearing point (CBP) registration on the tip of the Gothic arch.

Misfit of Complete Maxillary Dentures' Posterior Palatal Seal following Polymerisation with Four Different Autopolymerising Resins: An In Vitro Study.

Background: The majority of complete dentures are still conventionally manufactured using a flask-and-pack technique. However, the polymerization process may introduce a distortion of the denture body. The aim of this study was to evaluate the three-dimensional fit of the posterior palatal seal of maxillary complete dentures with the original impression, and to give recommendations for scraping.

Neuropsychology and MRI correlates of neurodegeneration in SPG11 hereditary spastic paraplegia.

Background: SPG11-linked hereditary spastic paraplegia is characterized by multisystem neurodegeneration leading to a complex clinical and yet incurable phenotype of progressive spasticity and weakness. Severe cognitive symptoms are present in the majority of SPG11 patients, but a systematic and multidimensional analysis of the neuropsychological phenotype in a larger cohort is lacking. While thinning of the corpus callosum is a well-known structural hallmark observed in SPG11 patients, the neuroanatomical pattern of cortical degeneration is less understood.

A Multisensory Deficit in the Perception of Pleasantness in Parkinson's Disease.

Background: There is growing interest in non-motor symptoms in Parkinson's disease (PD), due to the impact on quality of life. Anhedonia, the inability to experience joy and lust, has a prevalence of up to 46% in PD. The perception of pleasantness of an odor is reduced in anhedonia without PD.
