European countries have included healthcare workers (HCWs) among priority groups for COVID-19 vaccination. We established a multi-country hospital network to measure the SARS-CoV-2 incidence and effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines among HCWs against laboratory-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection. HCWs from 19 hospitals in 10 countries participated in a dynamic prospective cohort study, providing samples for SARS-CoV-2 testing at enrolment and during weekly/fortnightly follow-up.

Here, we report on the emergence and spread of multidrug-resistant NDM-1-producing isolates from patients hospitalized in the Attica region, Greece, in 2022 to provide data on their resistome, their virulome, the genetic environment of , and their molecular epidemiology. A total of 17 carbapenem-resistant isolates identified as NDM-producers by immunochromatography at the hospital level were sent to the Central Public Health Laboratory, in the frame of the laboratory surveillance of carbapenem-resistant pathogens, for further characterization. The initial screening for genetic AMR determinants was carried out by PCR and the MDR Direct Flow Chip assay.

Background: Increasing incidence of carbapenem-resistant Gram-negative bacteraemia (CR-GNB) has triggered increased use of polymyxins, likely fuelling the emergence and spread of colistin resistance.

Aim: To estimate the excess clinical burden of colistin resistance in intensive care patients with CR-GNB.

Methods: A cohort of patients with CR-GNB during their stay in the intensive care unit (ICU) of a university hospital in Greece over a 4-year period (2020-2023) was constructed.

Introduction: An outbreak of gastroenteritis due to Salmonella Give, a very rarely identified serotype in human isolates in Greece, occurred in participants of a religious festival in a rural area of southern Greece, in September 2022. The objectives of this study were to describe the outbreak in terms of epidemiology, identify the vehicle of transmission of the foodborne pathogen and recommend prevention measures.

Methods: The outbreak was linked to the consumption of a local traditional recipe of roasted pork meat served by a street food vendor.

The Omicron variant is associated with increased transmissibility, but evidence about the impact of Omicron in seropositivity of children is limited. This study aims to evaluate SARS-CoV-2 seroprevalence in children during the different variants' subperiods. A prospective multicenter seroprevalence study was conducted in 7 University public hospitals in Greece from November 2021 to August 2022 (3 subperiods: November 2021-February 2022, March 2022-May 2022, June 2022-August 2022).
