Evolution in the Surgical Management of Gastric Cancer Peritoneal Metastases.

Despite therapeutic treatments and the growing utilization of multimodal therapies, gastric cancer (GC) remains a highly aggressive malignancy with high mortality worldwide. Much of the complexity in treating GC is due to the high incidence of peritoneal metastasis (PM), with mean overall survival typically ranging from 4 to 10 months. With current systemic therapy, targeted therapies, and immunotherapies continuing to remain ineffective for GC/PM, there has been a significant growing interest in intraperitoneal (IP) therapies for the treatment of GC/PM.

Defining Ultra-Massive Transfusion through a Systematic Review.

Background: Despite the widespread use of (UMT) as an intervention for trauma patients in hemorrhagic shock, no standard definition exists. We performed a systematic review to determine a consensus definition for UMT.

Methods: A search was performed from 1979-2022.

Extended stop codon context predicts nonsense codon readthrough efficiency in human cells.

Protein synthesis terminates when a stop codon enters the ribosome's A-site. Although termination is efficient, stop codon readthrough can occur when a near-cognate tRNA outcompetes release factors during decoding. Seeking to understand readthrough regulation we used a machine learning approach to analyze readthrough efficiency data from published HEK293T ribosome profiling experiments and compared it to comparable yeast experiments.

Implementation of a Nurse-Driven Eat-Sleep-Console (ESC) Treatment Pathway at a Community Hospital for Treatment of Neonatal Opioid Withdrawal Syndrome in an Effort to Improve Short-term Outcomes.

Background: The Chandler Regional Medical Center (CRMC) neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) began a phased implementation of Eat-Sleep-Console (ESC) for the management of those at risk for neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome (NOWS).

Purpose: The purpose of this initiative is to track short-term outcomes as well as the program's effect on nursing workflow and job performance rating/satisfaction.

Methods: A retrospective review of the ESC implementation process at CRMC from the years 2018-2020.
