Reported mpox cases in England continued at a low but steady frequency during 2023. Of 137 cases reported in 2023, approximately half were acquired overseas and half were in vaccinated persons. Estimated effectiveness of 2-dose vaccine was 80%, and no vaccinated mpox patient was hospitalized.

A key challenge in the development of organic mixed ionic-electronic conducting materials (OMIEC) for high performance electrochemical transistors is their stable performance in ambient. When operating in aqueous electrolyte, potential reactions of the electrochemically injected electrons with air and water could hinder their persistence, leading to a reduction in charge transport. Here, the impact of deepening the LUMO energy level of a series of electron-transporting semiconducting polymers is evaluated, and subsequently rendering the most common oxidation processes of electron polarons thermodynamically unfavorable, on organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) performance.

Singlet fission, the process of transforming a singlet excited state into two lower energy triplet excited states, is a promising strategy for improving the efficiency of dye-sensitized solar cells. The difficulty in utilizing singlet fission molecules in this architecture is understanding and controlling the orientation of dyes on mesoporous metal oxide surfaces to maximize triplet production and minimize detrimental deactivation pathways, such as electron injection from the singlet or excimer formation. Here, we varied the concentration of loading solutions of two anthradithiophene dyes derivatized with either one or two carboxylic acid groups for binding to a metal oxide surface and studied their photophysics using ultrafast transient absorption spectroscopy.

Aluminum fluoride (AlF) complexes have been used over the past decade to incorporate [F]fluoride into large biomolecules in a highly selective fashion by using relatively facile conditions. However, despite their widespread usage, there are a large number of variations in the reaction conditions, without a definitive discussion provided on the mechanism to understand how these changes would alter the end result. Herein, we report a detailed mechanistic investigation of the reaction, using a mixture of theoretical studies, fluorine-19 and fluorine-18 chemistry, and the consequences it has on the efficient clinical translation of AlF-containing imaging agents.
