Purpose: The purpose of this study is to compare the open Latarjet procedure versus the all-arthroscopic autologous tricortical iliac crest bone grafting (AICBG) technique for recurrent anterior-inferior glenohumeral instability with glenoid bone loss.

Methods: All open Latarjet and AICBG procedures for recurrent anterior-inferior shoulder instability with glenoid bone loss performed at two institutions between September 2015 and April 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. Inclusion criteria were a traumatic etiology, a glenoid surface deficiency >13.

Development and clinical evaluation of immunoluminometric assays for lactoferrin and elastase-alpha 1-proteinase inhibitor complexes in body fluids with special references to bronchoalveolar lavage and neonatal sepsis.

Immunoluminometric assays for lactoferrin and elastase-alpha 1-proteinase inhibitor complexes were developed using solid-phase methodology, which has already been published from this laboratory. The aim of the study was to develop a rapid method to see whether elevated granulocyte activity was present in the lung, as for example in neonatal sepsis. The lactoferrin assay gave reliable results within 30 minutes, the elastase-alpha 1-proteinase inhibitor complexes, within 5 hours.

Luminometric assays of seven acute-phase proteins in minimal volumes of serum, plasma, sputum, and bronchioalveolar lavage.

We describe immunoluminometric assays for seven acute-phase proteins, which can be determined in minimal volumes of plasma, serum, sputum, and bronchioalveolar lavage. The theoretical volume of serum or plasma required to measure all seven analytes in duplicate is 130 nL, although in practice the smallest volume of sample was enough to fill a hematocrit tube (about 25 microL of blood), collected from neonates by the heel-prick method. The assays could be performed with 10 microL of sputum or with 100 microL of bronchioalveolar lavage.
