Validation of a tri-axial accelerometer for measuring physical activity in patients with subacute stroke.

Purpose: This study aimed to validate the accuracy of the Active Style Pro HJA-750C (ASP) in measuring metabolic equivalents (METs) during walking and reaching tasks in individuals with subacute stroke using a respiratory gas analyzer as a reference.

Methods: Twenty-three hospitalized patients with subacute stroke participated in this study. They performed sitting and standing reaching tasks, as well as walking while wearing a VO2 Master respiratory gas analyzer and ASP devices on both the paretic and non-paretic sides.

A case of Staphylococcus saprophyticus bacteremia caused by obstructive pyelonephritis.

Herein, we present the case of a 64-year-old woman diagnosed with left calculous pyelonephritis. Gram-positive cocci in clusters were isolated from two sets of her blood culture. These cocci were later identified as Staphylococcus saprophyticus.

A Case of Freeman-Sheldon Syndrome With Glaucoma Successfully Treated by Trabeculotomy Using the Kahook Dual Blade.

This case study details a 41-year-old male patient with Freeman-Sheldon syndrome (FSS) who presented with ocular hypertension. The intraocular pressure (IOP) in his right eye progressively increased over time, leading to visual field loss, culminating in a diagnosis of juvenile-onset open-angle glaucoma (JOAG). Despite conventional medical therapies, adequate IOP control was not achieved, necessitating his referral to Nagoya City University Hospital.
