Objectives: This article investigates the anxiolytic activity of Terminalia chebula tannin-rich extract against picrotoxin (PTX; GABA antagonist)-induced anxiety in mice model.

Methods: Anxiolytic activity was studied by elevated plus maze (EPM), open field test (OFT), light/dark box test (LDT) and Vogel's conflict test (VCT). Electroencephalogram (EEG) was performed to know the changes in brain activity instigated by GABA antagonist.

The aim of the study was to assess the protective effect of Picrorhiza kurroa hydroalcoholic extract (PCK), a glycoside-rich extract, against potassium dichromate (PDC)-induced liver oxidative stress in Wistar albino rats. Thirty-six male Wistar rats were divided into six groups: the control group (which received distilled water), the SIL group (which received 60 mg/kg silymarin), the PDC group (which received 30 mg/kg KCrO), and the treatment groups (which received 25, 50, 100 mg/kg PCK). Administration of PDC resulted in increased levels of liver enzymes such as alanine transaminase (ALT), aspartate transaminase (AST), and alkaline phosphatase (ALP); up-regulated peroxidation biomarkers, i.

Terminalia catappa L. belonging to Combretaceae family is a folk medicine, known for its multiple pharmacological properties, but the neuro-modulatory effect of TC against chronic mild stress was seldom explored. The present study was designed to elucidate potential antidepressant-like effect of Terminalia cattapa (leaf) hydro-alcoholic extract (TC) by using CMS model for a period of 7 weeks.
