Background: Irinotecan demonstrates anti-tumor efficacy in preclinical glioma models but clinical results are modest due to drug delivery limitations. Convection enhanced delivery (CED) improves drug delivery by increasing intratumoral drug concentration. Real-time magnetic resonance imaging of infusate delivery during CED may optimize tumor coverage.

Navigating trends in research related to vestibular function tests through scientometrics.

Purpose: Research on vestibular function tests has advanced significantly over the past century. This study aims to evaluate research productivity, identify top contributors, and assess global collaboration to provide a comprehensive overview of trends and advancements in the field.

Method: A scientometric analysis was conducted using publications from the Scopus database, retrieved on January 5, 2024.

Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis after intrathecal administration of nusinersen.

Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis is an uncommon sequela of low intracranial pressure, which may result from a lumbar puncture (LP). We describe a case of a patient in their 40s presenting with 48 hours of persistent headache following intrathecal administration of nusinersen for spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) type 3. There were no focal neurological signs or symptoms apart from baseline symmetrical proximal limb weakness attributed to SMA.

Professional judgement: a social practice perspective on a multiple mini-interview for specialty training selection.

Background: Interviewers' judgements play a critical role in competency-based assessments for selection such as the multiple-mini-interview (MMI). Much of the published research focuses on the psychometrics of selection and the impact of rater subjectivity. Within the context of selecting for entry into specialty postgraduate training, we used an interpretivist and socio-constructivist approach to explore how and why interviewers make judgments in high stakes selection settings whilst taking part in an MMI.

Retrospective chart review of venous thromboembolism incidence and management in rural patients undergoing varicose vein treatment.

Purpose: Determine the rate of incidence, risk factors, and management for developing venous thromboembolism (VTE) in patients undergoing radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy (UGFS) for varicose veins.

Methods: All charts of patients undergoing venous ablation from 2016 to 2023 were reviewed at a rural vein treatment clinic. The incidence of VTE was noted and a chart review was completed to identify risk factors for VTE, EHIT score, EFIT score, and management.
