Background: Human health is determined by a number of physical, social and psychological factors, including the often considered health behaviors. They are an indispensable part of the health recovery process and are also the basis of prevention in the development of such disorders as atherosclerosis. Health behaviors are reinforced by an individual's resources such as positive orientation, which is composed of optimism, high self-esteem and satisfaction with life.

The main aim of the study was to assess the psychometric properties of the Polish version of the Sports Anxiety scale-2 (SAS-2). The study covered 396 athletes, ages ranging from 18 years to 35 years. The task and ego orientation in sport questionnaire (TEOSQ) and State and Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) were used for validation of the scale.

Background: Inflammatory responses mediated by adipocytokines may affect both atherosclerosis development and progression, as well as the risk of in-stent restenosis. The aim of this study was to determine the relationships between blood leptin, adiponectin and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) concentrations and the 1-year outcome of superficial femoral artery (SFA) stenting.

Methods: Blood concentrations of leptin, adiponectin and TNF-α were determined in 70 patients undergoing SFA stenting due to intermittent claudication and in 40 patients undergoing carotid artery stenting (CAS).

Background: The pathogenesis of in-stent restenosis is still not clear. The aim of this study was to determine the nutritional status of patients with lower limb ischemia and the risk of target lesion revascularization (TLR) after superficial femoral artery (SFA) stenting.

Methods: Numerous parameters of nutritional status assessment were compared between 70 patients undergoing SFA endovascular intervention with a self-expandable plane stent due to life-limiting intermittent claudication and 40 patients undergoing carotid artery stenting (CAS).

Article Synopsis
  • The study analyzes how various clinical and biochemical factors influence the effectiveness of lower limb artery stenting in patients.
  • The research involved evaluating the medical records of 91 patients who underwent stenting and were followed for at least one year.
  • Key findings revealed that factors like age, dyslipidemia, and blood parameters significantly impact the risk of stent failure, highlighting the need for further investigations on dyslipidemia’s role in treatment outcomes.
