An enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to detect serum IgG, IgM, and IgE antibodies against Trichinella spirals s. str. following an outbreak of human trichinosis in 1989 in Chiang Rai Province, Thailand, for two years and seven months in order to observe diagnostic sensitivity of ELISA as well as the persistence of antibodies.

The agar plate method is a new technique with high detection rates for coprological diagnosis of human strongyloidiasis. This report details modifications of the technique and establishes a standardized procedure. We recommend that all plates should be carefully observed using a microscope because macroscopic observation can lead to false negative results.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA preliminary survey for Bancroftian filariasis in villagers of Ban Prabat Heuy Tom, Tambol Na-Sai, Amphoe Li, Lamphun Province was performed between July 12, 1986 and March 19, 1987. A total of 1,435 villagers comprising 668 females and 767 males were examined for microfilaraemia in peripheral blood. Microfilariae were found in five males of which two cases were found to have developed hydrocele at a lesser degree and all of them had formerly resided in an endemic area of Tak Province.
