Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a highly heterogeneous cancer with a poor prognosis. During the development of cancer cells, mitochondria influence various cell death patterns by regulating metabolic pathways such as oxidative phosphorylation. However, the relationship between mitochondrial function and cell death patterns in HCC remains unclear.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a member of the large coronavirus family with high infectivity and pathogenicity and is the primary pathogen causing the global pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Phosphorylation is a major type of protein post-translational modification that plays an essential role in the process of SARS-CoV-2-host interactions. The precise identification of phosphorylation sites in host cells infected with SARS-CoV-2 will be of great importance to investigate potential antiviral responses and mechanisms and exploit novel targets for therapeutic development.

The present study investigated the mechanisms by which aquaporin 1 (AQP1) influences microglial polarization and neuroinflammatory processes in traumatic brain injury (TBI). A model of TBI was generated in AQP1‑knockout mice to assess the impact of AQP1 deletion on inflammatory cytokine release, neuronal damage and cognitive function. Immunofluorescence, reverse transcription‑quantitative PCR, western blotting and enzyme‑linked immunosorbent assay were employed to evaluate pro‑inflammatory and anti‑inflammatory markers.

The down-regulation of p21 after long-term CDK4/6 inhibition represents a key mechanism causing resistance to CDK4/6 inhibitors in some tumor cells, while the HDAC inhibitor could upregulate the level of p21. Herein, a series of novel CDK4/6 and HDAC dual-targeting inhibitors based on the moiety of palbociclib were designed and synthesized. Among them, compound N14 potently inhibited CDK4/6 and HDAC1/6 at nanomolar levels and induced cell apoptosis and G/G phase arrest through HDAC-p21-CDK signaling pathway in HuH-7 cell line.

Objective: Pre-bent titanium plates are widely used for internal fixation in L-shaped zygomatic reduction. The aim is to evaluate the effect of pre-bent Z-shaped titanium plate on the narrowing of the zygomatic arch in L-shaped reduction malarplasty.

Methods: Thirty cosmetic female patients were selected and scanned using computed tomography (CT).
