Understanding Retention in Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis Care in the South: Insights from an Academic HIV Prevention Clinic.

HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is poorly utilized in the southern United States. We examined PrEP retention in care and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) through a retrospective review of the Duke University PrEP Clinic from January 1, 2015 to October 15, 2019. We evaluated short-term (3 months), long-term (additional 8-12 months), and longitudinal retention in care in our clinic.

Thoracic kyphosis and rate of incident vertebral fractures: the Fracture Intervention Trial.

Summary: Biomechanical analyses support the theory that thoracic spine hyperkyphosis may increase risk of new vertebral fractures. While greater kyphosis was associated with an increased rate of incident vertebral fractures, our analysis does not show an independent association of kyphosis on incident fracture, after adjustment for prevalent vertebral fracture. Excessive kyphosis may still be a clinical marker for prevalent vertebral fracture.

Background: Antibiotic overuse in neonates is associated with adverse outcomes. Data are limited to guide antibiotic stewardship in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Our objective was to identify areas for antibiotic stewardship improvement in a referral NICU.

Too Fit To Fracture: outcomes of a Delphi consensus process on physical activity and exercise recommendations for adults with osteoporosis with or without vertebral fractures.

Unlabelled: An international consensus process resulted in exercise and physical activity recommendations for individuals with osteoporosis. Emphasis was placed on strength, balance, and postural alignment. Rather than providing generic restrictions, activity should be encouraged while considering impairments, fracture risk, activity history, and preference, and guidance on spine sparing techniques should be provided.
