Diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG) is a fatal central nervous system (CNS) tumor that confers a median survival of 11 months. As B7-H3 is expressed on pediatric CNS tumors, we conducted BrainChild-03, a single-center, dose-escalation phase 1 clinical trial of repetitive intracerebroventricular (ICV) dosing of B7-H3-targeting chimeric antigen receptor T cells (B7-H3 CAR T cells) for children with recurrent or refractory CNS tumors and DIPG. Here we report results from Arm C, restricted to patients with DIPG.

Background: Radical resection of spinal cord lipomas reduces the rate of re-tethering. Current conventional neurophysiological mapping techniques are not able to differentiate between crucial motor nerve roots and sensory roots. Enhanced differentiation could contribute to complete resection.

The sebaceous gland (SG) is a vital appendage of the epidermis, and its normal homeostasis and function is crucial for effective maintenance of the skin barrier. Notch signaling is a well-known regulator of epidermal differentiation, and has also been shown to be involved in postnatal maintenance of SGs. However, the precise role of Notch signaling in regulating SG differentiation in the adult homeostatic skin remains unclear.

Background: Total intravenous anaesthesia guided by electroencephalography and neurophysiological monitoring may be used for carotid endarterectomy. Reduction of brain metabolic demand during cross-clamping of the internal carotid artery with propofol titrated to burst suppression requires effect-site concentrations that may delay emergence and interfere with intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring.

Objective: To test the hypothesis that dexmedetomidine decreases the effect-site concentration of propofol required for burst-suppression in patients undergoing carotid endarterectomy.

Ti-containing zeotypes, notably titanosilicalite-1 (TS-1), are prominent examples of heterogeneous catalysts that have found applications in selective oxidation processes with hydrogen peroxide. Despite extensive characterization studies including using various probe molecules to interrogate the nature and the local environment of Ti sites, their detailed structure (as well as reactivity) remains elusive. Here, we demonstrate that using low temperature N magic angle spinning (MAS) ssNMR spectroscopy of adsorbed pyridine on TS-1 combined with Ti K-edge XANES on a range of samples (dehydrated, hydrated, contacted with HO and pyridine) provides unique information regarding the Ti sites, highlighting their reactivity and dynamic nature.
