Improving Care at Correctional Facilities: Listening, Learning and Creating Change from a Patient Care Quality Office.

Correctional Health Services (CHS) became part of the Provincial Health Services Authority in British Columbia (BC) in October, 2017. There are 2,700 clients in BC in 10 facilities, and approximately 60% of these clients have mental health issues and/or substance use issues. To address healthcare quality complaints and queries for this unique setting, in keeping with provincial legislation, nursing role of the patient care quality specialist was created in 2018.

The process of prion conversion is not yet well understood at the molecular level. The regions critical for the conformational change of PrP remain mostly debated and the extent of sequence change acceptable for prion conversion is poorly documented. To achieve progress on these issues, we applied a reverse genetic approach using the Rov cell system.

Pulpal response to tricalcium phosphate as a capping agent.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate tricalcium phosphate (TCP) as a pulp-capping agent. Two adult male beagle dogs were used for this investigation. Class I cavities were prepared in the posterior teeth and Class V cavities in the anterior teeth.

Nonsurgical treatment of extraoral lesions caused by necrotic nonvital tooth.

Two cases of extraoral fistula on the chin--caused by necrotic pulp of lower anterior teeth--are being presented. A paste consisting of equal amounts of calcium hydroxide and iodoform mixed with glycerin was used. It is concluded that the positive results of this method of treatment were due to the therapeutic properties of the paste.
