Article Synopsis
  • Volar dislocation of the distal radioulnar joint is an uncommon injury that is frequently overlooked at first examination.
  • A 21-year-old male patient was treated successfully 2 months post-injury through open reduction and reconstruction of the ligament using part of the extensor carpi ulnaris tendon.
  • A review of existing literature revealed limited cases and diverse management techniques, with this case's approach compared to others.

Wide-awake surgery is transforming many areas of hand surgery. We report a distinctive case of an avulsion near total amputation of the right dominant arm, which required emergent shaft humerus fracture fixation and brachial artery repair with a vein graft. Three months post-injury, the patient underwent long segment nerve grafts of the median and ulnar nerves, with pectoralis major to biceps transfer for elbow flexion reconstruction.

An original step-by-step approach to synthesize and characterize a bifunctional heterogeneous catalyst consisting of isolated Ti(3+) centers and strong Lewis acid Al(3+) sites on the surface of a chlorinated alumina has been devised. A wide range of physicochemical and spectroscopic techniques were employed to demonstrate that the two sites, in close proximity, act in a concerted fashion to synergistically boost the conversion of ethylene into branched polyethylene, using ethylene as the only feed and without any activator. The coordinatively unsaturated Al(3+) ions promote ethylene oligomerization through a carbocationic mechanism and activate the Ti(3+) sites for the traditional ethylene coordination polymerization.

MgCl2·xROH molecular adducts are extensively employed as a support material for Ziegler-Natta polyolefin catalysis. However, their structural properties are not well understood. Recently, we reported on the preparation of an isobutanol adduct, MgCl2·4(CH3)2CHCH2OH (MgiBuOH) ( Dalton Trans.

Touraine Solente Gole syndrome is a rare hereditary syndrome of primary pachydermoperiostosis, with the characteristic triad of pachydermia (or elephant like skin), periostosis and acropachia. A 27-year-old patient presented with aesthetic deformity of forehead due to deep skin folds and coarsening of facial features due to progressive thickening of skin. Associated palmoplantar hyperkeratosis with broadened of finger and toe tips and digital clubbing were noticed.
