Low-grade endometrial stromal sarcoma (LGESS) is a rare disease, accounting for less than 1% of all uterine malignancies. Standard treatment is total hysterectomy and bilateral tubal oophorectomy, although fertility preservation may be desirable because of the young age of onset. We document a case of fertility preservation in a 27-year-old nulligravida diagnosed with LGESS, which not only enabled the successful birth of two live infants but also underscores the efficacy of a multidisciplinary approach to patient treatment through the Hyogo Oncofertility Network (HOF-net).

Among human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs), linear HMOs are synthesized through mature but varied routes. Although branched HMOs can be synthesized by chemical, enzymatic, or chemoenzymatic methods, these methods cannot be easily applied to the synthesis of asymmetric multiantennary oligosaccharides. Herein, we developed a controllable method to synthesize asymmetric biantennary HMOs.

Article Synopsis
  • Researchers fused inactive Cas13 proteins with a modified human ADAR2 deaminase to create a new method for precise RNA editing without causing permanent changes in the genome.
  • The new platform, called xPERT, was engineered to improve the balance between effective on-target editing and reduced off-target activity, addressing a major concern in existing RNA-editing technologies.
  • Compared to previous systems (REPAIRv1 and REPAIRv2), xPERT demonstrates strong on-target editing while minimizing unintended alterations, making it a potentially safer option for customizing RNA and protein functions.

Purpose: This network meta-analysis (NMA) of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) aimed to identify effective initial conservative treatment strategies for patients with temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD).

Study Selection: RCTs comparing treatment options for TMD published between January 2000 and July 2021 were retrieved from the databases of PubMed and Embase via a comprehensive electronic search. Patients diagnosed with myalgia (muscle pain) or arthralgia (joint pain) according to pain-related Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders (DC/TMD) and the Research Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders (RDC/TMD) were eligible for inclusion.

Research on sex differences has increased across various fields, including cancer and its treatment domains. Reports have indicated sex differences in cancer incidence, survival rates, and the efficacy of anticancer drugs. However, such reports are limited, and in-depth assessments of the underlying mechanisms are still in progress.
