Background: Precise and tension-free approximation of two tendon endings is the key predictor of outcomes following tendon lacerations and repairs. We evaluate the efficacy of a new tendon approximator device in tendon laceration repairs.
Materials & Methods: In a comparative study, we used our new tendon approximator device in 99 consecutive patients with laceration of 266 tendons who attend a university hospital and evaluated the operative time to repair the tendons, surgeons' satisfaction as well as patient's outcomes in a long-term follow-up.
Background: Distraction osteogenesis (DS) is currently an important technique for lengthening shortened bones of the hand and foot. Authors report their experience in applying DS for various conditions of the hand and foot using a distractor that the senior author has designed.
Materials And Methods: Records of patients who underwent DS for hand and foot conditions in a private clinic were retrieved between January 2001 and January 2015.
The coverage of large soft-tissue defects usually requires a large flap transfer, especially in a combination and expanded form. However, some large soft-tissue defects still cannot be covered by such flaps. In this article, we present a case of a civil war injury in a patient from Afghanistan who had severe trauma to the right knee, lower thigh, and upper leg and a marked soft-tissue defect.

Seventy-seven skin and bone defects caused by high velocity missiles have been repaired with various combinations of microvascular free transfer of skin flaps and vascularised bone grafts. We concluded that the free osteoseptocutaneous fibula transfer (1,4) is the best method of reconstruction if a long bone defect is associated with skin loss.
