Unlabelled: Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) is a rare complication of herpes zoster characterized by prolonged and excruciating pain. Traditional treatments for PHN, such as analgesics, anticonvulsants and antidepressants, do not always bring the desired result. One promising alternative that is attracting the attention of the scientific community is dorsal root ganglion stimulation (DRGS).

The Effectiveness of Various Types of Electrical Stimulation of the Spinal Cord for Chronic Pain in Patients with Postherpetic Neuralgia: A Literature Review.

Introduction: Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) is a severe condition that remains a challenge to treat. Spinal cord stimulation (SCS) is used in cases of insufficient efficacy of conservative treatment. However, in contrast to many other neuropathic pain syndromes, there is a huge problem in reaching long-term stable pain relief in patients with PHN using conventional tonic SCS.

Classification of pain syndromes is quite multifaceted. However, pathogenetic classification by which chronic pain syndromes are usually divided into nociceptive, neuropathic and psychogenic, is crucial in choosing treatment tactics. In modern classifications, psychogenic pain is distinguished from nociceptive pain (associated with direct tissue injury or damage) and neuropathic pain (in which lesion can only be determined morphologically).

Objective: To analyze the results of sphenopalatine ganglion stimulation in treatment of chronic headache.

Materials And Methods: Medical histories of patients who underwent sphenopalatine ganglion stimulation in 4 clinical centers have been analyzed. The analysis included the type of pain and its characteristics, methods of surgery, CT, MRI, radiography before and after surgery.

[Brainstem arachnoid cyst: case report and review].

Objective: To describe the clinical case of brainstem (pontomesencephalic) arachnoid cyst and to analyze classification, pathogenesis, differential diagnosis and treatment of this pathology considering literature data and own experience.

Material And Methods: A 29-year-old patient with pontomesencephalic arachnoid cyst is reported.
