To halt the loss of biodiversity, collaboration among scientists, managers and decision-makers is vital. Although biodiversity loss is a global problem, management actions influencing diversity are often on a local to regional scale. Our study is an example of a regional conservation genomic assessment developed in collaboration between scientists and managers.

Ecological theory and empirical research show that both direct lethal effects and indirect non-lethal effects can structure the composition of communities. While the direct effects of grazers on marine phytoplankton communities are well studied, their indirect effects are still poorly understood. Direct and indirect effects are inherently difficult to disentangle in plankton food webs.

Objective: At Women & Infants Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island, the Specialty Care in Pregnancy clinic combines obstetric-medicine internists with rheumatologists to care for pregnant patients with rheumatologic conditions. These clinics are scarce, with only three known similar clinics in the United States. This study aims to characterize the population cared for in this clinic, identify interventions, and analyze pregnancy outcomes for the birthing parents and newborns.

Background/aim: Wilms' tumors are pediatric renal tumors that generally have a good prognosis and outcomes. Viral illnesses have been linked to development of neoplasms and should be considered as a factor that could modulate overall survival.

Materials And Methods: We considered recently developed adaptive immune receptor, genomics and bioinformatics approaches to assess the potential impact of cytomegalovirus (CMV) infections in Wilms' tumor.

Electrochemical advanced oxidation is an appealing point-of-use groundwater treatment option for removing pollutants such as 1,4-dioxane, which is difficult to remove by using conventional separation-based techniques. This study addresses a critical challenge in employing electrochemical cells in practical groundwater treatment─electrode stability over long-term operation. This study aims to simulate realistic environmental scenarios by significantly extending the experimental time scale, testing a flow-through cell in addition to a batch reactor, and employing an electrolyte with a conductivity equivalent to that of groundwater.
