Panitumumab versus cetuximab in combination with irinotecan in refractory metastatic colorectal cancer.

Purpose: There is evidence that adding cetuximab can overcome resistance to irinotecan, but a similar analysis with Panitumumab isn't readily available. This study evaluated the activity of each anti-EGFR plus irinotecan as a salvage third-line treatment for metastatic colorectal cancer.

Methods: This is a retrospective cohort of metastatic colorectal cancer patients who progressed to irinotecan monotherapy and were exposed to an anti-EGFR antibody as a third line of treatment.

The landscape of chemokine and cytokine is associated with the distinct clinical status of leprosy patients and their respective household contacts.

Introduction: Leprosy, a chronic infectious disease, is closely linked to the host immune response. According to the WHO, leprosy patients (L) and household contacts (HHC) are classified into subgroups: paucibacillary (PB) and multibacillary (MB), witch reflect the degree of infection in patients and the level of exposure of their contacts. The main goal of this study was to: i) establish a comprehensive overview of soluble mediator signatures of PBMCs upon antigen-specific stimuli and ii) identify whether the chemokine (CH) and cytokine (CY) signatures were associated with distinct clinical manifestations in (L) and immune response profiles in (HHC).

Medication adherence among people living with hypertension and diabetes in Puno, Peru: A secondary analysis of formative data of the ANDES trial.

Background: Hypertension is the leading modifiable risk factor for premature death globally despite the existence of evidence-based and cost-effective treatments. Medication nonadherence is cited as the main cause of treatment failure for hypertension. In Peru, adherence to anti-hypertensive medications of individuals with both hypertension and type 2 diabetes (T2D) is not well studied.

Recurrent Outbreak of Carbapenem-Resistant IMP-1-Producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa in Kidney Transplant Recipients: The Impact of Prolonged Patient Colonization.

Background: Infections by carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa (CRPA) have been associated with high morbidity and mortality among solid organ recipients.

Objectives: To delineate the epidemiological and molecular characteristics of a recurrent outbreak of imipenem (IMP)-producing P. aeruginosa (CRPA) among kidney transplant (KT) recipient METHODS: We described a recurring CRPA outbreak in a KT ward, divided into two periods: before unit closure (Feb 2019-2020) and after reopening (Aug 2020-Dec 2023).
