A detailed theoretical study delving into the molecular mechanisms of the Ullmann-type -arylation reactions catalyzed by manganese and zinc metal ions has been investigated with the aid of the density functional theory (DFT) method. In contrast to the redox-active mechanisms proposed for classical Ullmann-type condensation reaction, a redox-neutral mechanism involving σ-bond metathesis emerged as the most appealing pathway for the investigated high-valent Mn(II) and Zn(II)-catalyzed -arylation reactions. The mechanism remains invariant with respect to the nature of the central metal, ligand, base, This unusuality in the mechanism has been dissected by considering three cases: ligand-free and ligand-assisted Mn(II)-catalyzed -arylation reaction and ligand-assisted Zn(II)-catalyzed -arylation reactions.

Background: Platelet concentrates are currently being researched for their potential to enhance bone formation.

Aim: The aim of this study is to quantitatively evaluate and compare bone regeneration in periapical lesions using a combination of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) + β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) + β-TCP.

Methods: Ten subjects with periapical lesions measuring 10-20 mm in relation to maxillary incisors indicated for periapical surgery were selected.

Objectives: The Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) program is designed to achieve faster recovery by maintaining pre-operative organ function and reducing stress response following surgery. A two part ERAS guidelines specific for Cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) was recently published with intent of extending the benefit to patients with peritoneal surface malignancies. This survey was performed to examine clinicians' knowledge, practice and obstacles about ERAS implementation in patients undergoing CRS and HIPEC.

Adipogenesis is a complex process controlled by intrinsic and extrinsic factors that regulate preadipocyte proliferation, adipogenic capacity and maturation of metabolic function. Here we show that insulin and IGF-1 receptors are essential for mature adipocyte survival and that deletion of both IR and IGF1R specifically in fat using a tamoxifen inducible-AdipoQ-Cre (Ai-DKO) leads to rapid and severe loss of adipocytes in all depots, associated with a metabolic syndrome characterized by hypertriglyceridemia, hyperglycemia, hyperinsulinemia, fatty liver, and pancreatic beta cell proliferation. In this model, this pathological phenotype reverses over a few weeks, in large part, due to preadipocyte proliferation and adipose tissue regeneration.
