A scoping review exploring research investigating the influence of carbohydrate counting on eating behaviour and/or disordered eating in type 1 diabetes.

Aims: To evaluate evidence describing a potential association between carbohydrate counting (CC) in type 1 diabetes and eating behaviours and/or disordered eating behaviour (DEB).

Methods: Systematic literature searches were conducted using MEDLINE, Embase, PsycINFO, Web of Science,Scopus, and the trial register Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials.

Results: 37 articles were eligible for review, 28 measured CC, 26 provided evidence of an association between CC and eating behaviours or participants' relationship to food, and four provided evidence of an association between CC and disordered eating.

Recognizing and responding to human trafficking in clinical care environments: A pediatric primary care case study.

Human trafficking is a proliferating abuse within the United States in which persons who are victimized frequently interface with clinical environments across the care continuum with a variety of presentations for health needs. However, in the absence of uniform standards for evidence-based training among the health professions, recognition and response in these scenarios remains low. This case study presents a young adolescent female accessing primary care with a chief complaint of commercial sexual exploitation.

Discharge of wastewater containing nitrate (NO) disrupts aquatic ecosystems even at low concentrations. However, selective and rapid reduction of NO at low concentration to dinitrogen (N) is technically challenging. Here, we present an electrified membrane (EM) loaded with Sn pair-atom catalysts for highly efficient NO reduction to N in a single-pass electrofiltration.

Empowering Regional Conservation: Genetic Diversity Assessments as a Tool for Eelgrass Management.

To halt the loss of biodiversity, collaboration among scientists, managers and decision-makers is vital. Although biodiversity loss is a global problem, management actions influencing diversity are often on a local to regional scale. Our study is an example of a regional conservation genomic assessment developed in collaboration between scientists and managers.

Direct and indirect effects of copepod grazers on community structure.

Ecological theory and empirical research show that both direct lethal effects and indirect non-lethal effects can structure the composition of communities. While the direct effects of grazers on marine phytoplankton communities are well studied, their indirect effects are still poorly understood. Direct and indirect effects are inherently difficult to disentangle in plankton food webs.
