One-carbon (1-C) metabolic deficiency impairs homeostasis, driving disease development, including infertility. It is of importance to summarize the current evidence regarding the clinical utility of 1-C metabolism-related biomolecules and methyl donors, namely, folate, betaine, choline, vitamin B12, homocysteine (Hcy), and zinc, as potential biomarkers, dietary supplements, and culture media supplements in the context of medically assisted reproduction (MAR). A narrative review of the literature was conducted in the PubMed/Medline database.

Article Synopsis
  • This study examined how different technical performance parameters of embryo transfer (ET) impact IVF outcomes using data from 1417 ET procedures.
  • It found that individual ET parameters generally did not show significant effects on clinical outcomes, while factors like the number and quality of embryos, along with maternal age, were significant predictors.
  • Ultimately, the research concluded that tracking detailed ET parameters does not provide added value for predicting IVF success, reinforcing the importance of embryo quality and maternal factors.
